Sublethal Toxic Effects of Cadmium Chloride to Liver of Freshwater Fish Channa striatus (Bloch.)
نویسنده
چکیده
The present investigation has been conducted to understand the hazardous effect of sublethal concentration of cadmium chloride solution (0.8ppm on the histology of the liver of the fish Channa striatus for a period of 45 days. The histopathological changes induced in the liver were cytoplasmic vacuolization of the hepatocytes, blood vessel congestion, inflammatory leucocytic infiltration and necrosis. All these alterations in liver histology can be considered to monitor the water contaminated with heavy metal salt(s).

IMPACT OF HEAVY METAL, CHROMIUM ON GLYCOGEN CONTENTS IN GILL, LIVER AND KIDNEY OF FRESHWATER FISH, Channa striatus (BLOCH)
Abstract Fish is generally appreciated as one of the healthiest and cheapest source of protein and it has amino acid compositions that are higher in cysteine than most other sources of protein. Heavy metals are natural trace components of the aquatic environment but their levels have increased due to industrial wastes, geochemical structure, agricultural and mining activities. All these sources...
متن کاملEffect of different protein levels on reproductive performance of snakehead murrel Channa striatus (Bloch 1793)
In this study the effect of different protein levels on reproductive performance of Channa striatus was conducted. Snakehead juveniles (65.5±0.2 g) were randomly distributed into nine homogenous groups of 75 fish each. Three isocaloric experimental diets differing in protein levels were prepared. The experiment lasted for 8 months and gonadosomatic index, absolute fecundity, egg diameter, numbe...

In the present study, an attempt has been made to examine the toxic effect of cypermethrin, a synthetic pyrethroid exposed to freshwater fish Channa punctatus. The fishes were exposed to sublethal concentration of 0.08 mg/L for 15, 30 and 45 days. The gills of the fish plays vital role in respiration and are an important organ with specific functions which are highly sensitive to many factors. ...

Present study has been undertaken to assess the toxicity of cadmium in vitro for viability of hepatocytes, lactate dehydrogenase leakage, glutathione and lipid peroxidation in Channa punctatus (Bloch), a freshwater snake head fish. Three concentrations of cadmium as cadmium chloride (0.1μg/ml; 3.0μg/ml and 5.0μg/ml) besides one control has been selected. Observations reveal that except lowest c...

Background: Channa striatus or better known as the haruan fish is an indigenous, snakehead, striped, air breathing freshwater fish of Malaysia and has long been consumed traditionally during post-operative and post-partum period to speed recovery. Most medical properties of the haruan are contributed to its high content of essential fatty and amino acids. This was a phase I clinical trial to ex...
