چکیده

Identification of local anisotropy and determination of principal axes is addressed through different methods that are designed to be tolerant to the non-smooth character of images on the pixel scale. These different tools are validated on various examples, and their performances are compared. The most powerful, robust and accurate method consists in computing the curvature tensor of the auto-correlation function of regularized images using fast Fourier transforms.

Improving Dark Channel Prior for Single Image Dehazing

This paper proposes an improved dark channel prior for removing haze from images. Dark channel prior is an effective method for removing haze. Dark channel is an image in the same size as the hazy image which is obtained by dividing the RGB images into windows and for each window, the minimum of each R, G and B channels are calculated. Then again the minimum of these three values is calculated ...

Iterative Weighted Non-smooth Non-negative Matrix Factorization for Face Recognition

Non-negative Matrix Factorization (NMF) is a part-based image representation method. It comes from the intuitive idea that entire face image can be constructed by combining several parts. In this paper, we propose a framework for face recognition by finding localized, part-based representations, denoted “Iterative weighted non-smooth non-negative matrix factorization” (IWNS-NMF). A new cost fun...

Stochastic texture image estimators for local spatial anisotropy and its variability

A new image analysis technique is proposed for the evaluation of local anisotropy and its variability in stochastic texture images. It utilizes the gradient function to provide information on local anisotropy, from two-dimensional (2-D) density images for foil materials like polymer sheets, nonwoven textiles, and paper. Such images can be captured by radiography or light-transmission; results a...

Numerische Simulation Auf Massiv Parallelen Rechnern Interpolation of Non-smooth Functions on Anisotropic Nite Element Meshes

In this paper, several modiications of the quasi-interpolation operator of Scott and Zhang (Math. Comp. 54(1990)190, 483{493) are discussed. The modiied operators are deened for non-smooth functions and are suited for the application on anisotropic meshes. The anisotropy of the elements is reeected in the local stability and approximation error estimates. As an application, an example is consid...

Mandibular Trabecular Bone Analysis Using Local Binary Pattern for Osteoporosis Diagnosis

Background: Osteoporosis is a systemic skeletal disease characterized by low bone mineral density (BMD) and micro-architectural deterioration of bone tissue, leading to bone fragility and increased fracture risk. Since Panoramic image is a feasible and relatively routine imaging technique in dentistry; it could provide an opportunistic chance for screening osteoporosis. In this regard, numerous...
