Characterization of myosin from normal dog heart.

چکیده
Although many physicochemical studies of skeletal myosin have been reported (l-4), comparatively few comparable studies have been made of cardiac myosin (5-7). The assumption that the myosins derived from skeletal, smooth, and cardiac muscle are identical (8) is not based upon any single rigorous comparative study. This laboratory is presently devoted to a systematic study of myocardial metabolism in dogs and man under various conditions of health and disease (9). The present communication is devoted to the physicochemical characterization of myosin isolated from the hearts of normal dogs. Preliminary reports of this work have been published elsewhere (10, 11).

متن کاملBinding characteristics of myosin and F-actin from dog hearts.
We used light scattering and ultracentrifugation to study the binding ratio of myosin and actin from normal and failing dog hearts and to determine the effect of temperature and adenosine triphosphate (ATP) on the binding. For comparison, similar studies were done on myosin and actin from rabbit skeletal muscle. We found a higher combining ratio, by weight, for cardiac myosin and actin (4.8 : 1...
متن کاملThe amino acid composition of actin and myosin and Ca2+-activated myosin adenosine triphosphatase in chronic canine congestive heart failure.
The Ca2+-activated myosin ATPase and the amino acid compositions of actin and myosin were determined for preparations from chronically failing dog hearts. Hypertrophy and congestive heart failure were produced by combined tricuspid valve insufficiency and pulmonary artery stenosis. Control, shamoperated, and noncardiac circulatory failure (inferior vena cava constriction) dogs also were studied...

متن کاملTroponin-tropomyosin abnormalities in hamster cardiomyopathy.
Cardiac myofibrils from cardiomyopathic hamsters exhibit elevated Mg2+ ATPase activity and a parallel upward shift of the calcium ATPase dose response curve. To explore the mechanism, myofibrils from control and cardiomyopathic hamster hearts were incubated with isolated troponin-tropomyosin complex (Tn.Tm) from cardiomyopathic and control hamster or from dog hearts. Tn.Tm from control hamster ...
