Control Errors in CFD!
نویسنده
چکیده
Error control in computational uid dynamics (CFD) has been crucial for reliability and e ciency of numerical ow simulations. The roles of truncation and rounding errors in difference approximations are discussed. Truncation error control is reviewed for ODEs. For di erence approximations of PDEs, discretization error control by Richardson extrapolation is outlined. Applications to anisotropic grid adaptation in CFD are shown. Alternative approaches of error control in CFD are mentioned.

CFD model-based natural ventilation control – the possibility, strategies, and potential
This paper investigates the potential of CFD-based control strategies. The simple model of an open-plan office is used to demonstrate the case for buoyancy combined wind-driven natural ventilation. Three control strategies are compared: a feed-forward control based on the steadystate analysis of the ventilated space; a feedback control with arbitrary control rules; and a transient CFD model-bas...
متن کاملCFD Simulation of Dry and Wet Pressure Drops and Flow Pattern in Catalytic Structured Packings
Type of packings and characteristics of their geometry can affect the flow behavior in the reactive distillation columns. KATAPAK SP is one the newest modular catalytic structured packings (MCSP) that has been used in the reactive distillation columns, recently. However, there is not any study on the hydrodynamics of this packing by using computational fluid dynamics. In the present work, a 3D ...

A review of recent advances in the use of surface integral methods in Computational AeroAcoustics (CAA) for the extension of near-field CFD results to the acoustic far-field is given. These integral formulations (i.e. Kirchhoff’s method, permeable (porous) surface FfowcsWilliams Hawkings (FW-H) equation) allow the radiating sound to be evaluated based on quantities on an arbitrary control surfa...
متن کاملCFD prediction of ship capsize: parametric rolling, broaching, surf-riding, and periodic motions
Stability against capsizing is one of the most fundamental requirements to design a ship. In this research, for the first time, CFD is performed to predict main modes of capsizing. CFD first is conducted to predict parametric rolling for a naval ship. Then CFD study of parametric rolling is extended for prediction of broaching both by using CFD as input to NDA model of broaching in replacement ...
