High Sensitive C - reactive protein – A Risk Marker For Coronary Artery Disease

چکیده
Abstract : Background of the study Coronary Artery Disease (CAD) remains the leading cause of morbidity and mortality in the present world. Clinical and laboratory studies have shown that inflammation plays a major role in the initiation, progression, and destabilization of atheromas. C-reactive protein (CRP), an acute phase reactant that reflects low-grade systemic inflammation, has been studied in a variety of cardiovascular diseases. Aim: To measure high sensitive c reactive protein (hs-CRP) value in patients with coronary artery disease and to compare it with controls. Outline of previous work – previous studies have demonstrated that elevated hsCRP levels has strong correlation with coronary artery disease. Methodology – 50 subjects who were recently diagnosed as coronary artery disease (investigations already done during the period of hospitalization) were included in the study after a questionnaire analysis. Blood investigations include hs-CRP & serum lipid profile, were done during the period of hospitalization. The reports were collected and compared with the normal reference range. Results – in our study, hs-CRP, total cholesterol, and low density lipoprotein levels are significantly high in cases when compared to controls and high density lipoprotein levels are significantly low in cases when compared to controls. We observed a positive correlation between hs-CRP and lipid parameters. Conclusion – hsCRP can be considered as a risk marker for coronary artery disease.

Background: Diabetes mellitus, which is associated with elevated blood glucose, lipids and liver enzymes, may results in alterations in the production of inflammatory cytokines, including chitinase-3-like protein 1 (YKL-40) and high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP), which induce and promote complications of diabetes such as atherosclerosis. The aim of this study was to evaluate the serum ...

متن کاملMid-Trimester Amniotic Fluid High Sensitive C-Reactive Protein Level in the Prediction of Preterm Delivery
Background and Objectives: Preterm labor is a serious problem in obstetrics, accounting for 70% of perinatal mortality. High sensitive C - reactive protein (HS-CRP) is a sensitive marker of Inflammation. Our aim in this study was to determine Amniotic fluid hs-CRP concentration and its correlation with pre-Term delivery. Materials and methods: This prospective study was conducted on 90 p...
متن کاملThe Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms in the C-reactive Protein Gene: are they Biomarkers of Cardiovascular Risk?
Recent pre-clinical and clinical studies have revealed the C-reactive protein gene (CRP) is related to the degree of acute rise in plasma C-reactive protein (CRP) levels. Moreover, single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the CRP gene could associate with increased risk of cancer, atherosclerosis, diabetes mellitus, bowel disease, rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, obstructive pulmonary disease,...
متن کاملC-reactive protein--a screening test for coronary disease?
C-reactive protein (CRP) is one of a number of substances termed "acute phase reactants," biologic substances that appear in the circulation when an active inflammatory process occurs. Although traditionally used to monitor or detect major infectious or inflammatory conditions, elevations of CRP levels within the conventional range of "normals" has been intensively studied as a marker for coron...
