چکیده

Primary LV dysfunction LV function with myocardial changes are invariably noted early in fetuses that develop HLHS. Possibly this is the initial disturbance (e.g fetal myocarditis) The abnormal aortic valve may be the result of inability of the LV to provide forward flow; the valve is closed by the pressure in the aorta provided from the pulmonary artery through the ductus arteriosus. Coarctation of the aorta associated with aortic valvular atresia.

The aortas in 41 specimeans of aortic atresia (ten with associated mitral atresia) were studied for the presence of coarctation of the aorta. The basic lesion, causing varying degrees of obstruction, was observed in 31 instances (75%), 24 minor, seven with major degrees of obstruction. In half, the aortic lesion lay proximal to the ductus, and in the majority of the remainder, opposite the duct...

Aortic atresia with normally developed left ventricle in a young adult.

Congenital aortic valve atresia is usually part of a developmental anomaly usually called 'hypoplastic left-heart syndrome'. To the best of our knowledge, most reported cases of aortic atresia have been associated with hypoplasia of the ascending aorta, of the left ventricle, and of the mitral valve. We report a patient presenting with aortic atresia with a ventricular septal defect and a norma...

Aortic atresia with interrupted aortic arch: a combination incompatible with life?

Aortic valve atresia is a common feature of hypoplastic left heart syndrome, which consists of various degrees of underdevelopment of the left ventricle aorta complex; nevertheless it can also be associated with a large ventricular septal defect (VSD) and a rather developed left ventricle. Atresia of the aortic valve prevents antegrade blood flow from the left ventricle to the ascending aorta, ...

A case of aortic atresia associated with right aortic arch.

A case of aortic atresia associated with right aortic arch is described. This is the second case in the literature. The diagnosis of aortic atresia was made prior to death by right heart catheterization with angiocardiography and this was confirmed at autopsy. The necessity of an early and accurate diagnosis of this disease is discussed for providing more opportunity of surgical treatment.
