چکیده

(SQUIDs) Joey Lambert December 8, 2008 Josephson junctions are interesting devices that provide a great deal of physics to research, both experimental and theoretical. The device was first proposed by Brian Josephson in short concise paper in 1962 [1], which predicts a resistance-less supercurrent that passes through the very thin insulating layer in between two macroscopic size superconductors. Depending on the circuit configuration and biasing methods, many useful devices can be made for use in research and industry, the most widely used being the Superconducting Quantum Interference Device (SQUID). In this report, I present the underlying physics of these devices.

Thin-film YBa2Cu3O72x direct current SQUIDs with Josephson junctions made by direct electron beam writing

We have investigated dc superconducting quantum interference devices ~SQUIDs! with loop areas 8 and 64 mm made by direct electron beam writing in YBa2Cu3O72x films with thickness 25 and 50 nm. The SQUIDs have maximum peak-to-peak voltage modulation of about 20 mV, which corresponds to the transfer factor dV/dF0;50–60 mV/F0 at 30–40 K. By measuring the mutual inductance of the SQUID signal line ...

Superconducting quantum interference device instruments and applications

Superconducting quantum interference devices SQUIDs have been a key factor in the development and commercialization of ultrasensitive electric and magnetic measurement systems. In many cases, SQUID instrumentation offers the ability to make measurements where no other methodology is possible. We review the main aspects of designing, fabricating, and operating a number of SQUID measurement syste...

Superconducting transition of Ru in SQUIDs with Nb/Ru/Sr2RuO4 junctions

We have measured transport properties and magnetic responses of direct current superconducting quantum interference devices(dc-SQUIDs) with Nb/Ru/Sr2RuO4 junctions on the same Ru inclusion of a Sr2RuO4-Ru eutectic crystal. We observed a superconducting transition of the Ru at 0.50 K and another transition with anomalous interference patterns of the SQUID at 0.40 K. The second transition led to ...

Micro-SQUIDs based on MgB2 nano-bridges for NEMS readout

We show the results obtained from the fabrication and characterisation of MgB2 loops with two nano-bridges as superconducting weak links. These ring structures are made to operate as superconducting quantum interference devices and are investigated as readout system for cryogenics NEMS resonators. The nano-constrictions are fabricated by EBL and ion beam milling. The SQUIDs are characterised at...

Bottom-up superconducting and Josephson junction devices inside a group-IV semiconductor.

Superconducting circuits are exceptionally flexible, enabling many different devices from sensors to quantum computers. Separately, epitaxial semiconductor devices such as spin qubits in silicon offer more limited device variation but extraordinary quantum properties for a solid-state system. It might be possible to merge the two approaches, making single-crystal superconducting devices out of ...
