چکیده

In this paper, two popular adaptive equalization methods, fractionally spaced decision feedback equalization (FSDFE) and maximum-likelihood sequence estimation (MLSE), are investigated for the design of digital mobile receivers for the IS-54 specifications of the NADC* system. A bi-directional equalization technique is incorporated and a multiple training LMS (MT-LMS) algorithm is used as the adaptive algorithm for both equalization methods. The results show that both MT-MLS and bidirectional techniques are effective in improving the receiver performance. However, the MT-LMS algorithm is more useful for MLSE than FSDFE whereas the bi-directional equalization technique improves FSDFE much more than MLSE.

On the Practical Aspects of Joint Passive Phase Conjugation and Equalization Underwater Communication Systems

Underwater acoustic communication systems suffer from the channel impairments which results in time spreading of the transmitted signal. In underwater environment, multiple replicas of the transmitted signal are received at the receiver through different paths, which causes significant Inter-Symbol Interference (ISI). Decision Feedback Equalizers (DFE) was utilized to overcome this type of inte...

Adaptive Mlse Receiver for Dual-band Is-136 Tdma

Mobile stations in high-tier Personal Communication Systems (PCS) are intended for high-mobility users and must thus operate in fast-changing environments. The first generation of high-tier PCS in North-America will be based on existing digital cellular standards including IS-I 36 TDMA. Moreover, dual-band receivers will be needed for extensive roaming. Adaptive equalizers were devised for IS-5...

Broadband Fixed Radio Access

The requirements for the digital signal processing of broadband wireless access systems are investigated. A discussion of different multiple access schemes considering the boundary conditions of future services is given, resulting in a Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) proposal. The dominant TDMA component is the adaptive equalizer. Different eligible equalizer structures and adaptation algo...

A Comparison of Forward-Only and Bi-Directional Fixed-Lag Adaptive SISOs

Several structures for fixed-lag (FL) soft-in/soft-out (SISO) algorithms in the case of a perfectly known channel are well-known. These forward-only and bi-directional fixed-lag SISOs have recently been described with the bi-directional version shown to be preferred. Adaptive iterative detection using adaptive SISOs (A-SISOs) have also recently been demonstrated to provide significant performan...
