Physically-Based Character Control in Low Dimensional Space

چکیده
In this paper, we propose a new method to compose physicallybased character controllers in low dimensional latent space. Source controllers are created by gradually updating the task parameter such as the external force applied to the body. During the optimization, instead of only saving the optimal controllers, we also keep a large number of nonoptimal controllers. These controllers provide knowledge about the stable area in the controller space, and are then used as samples to construct a low dimensional manifold that represents stable controllers. During runtime, we interpolate controllers in the low dimensional space and create stable controllers to cope with the irregular external forces. Our method is best to be applied for real-time applications such as computer games.

Exploring “Absent Presence” and “offstage Space” in Sam Shepard’s True West
There are several dramatic characters who enormously appeal to us since they are attractive. Part of this attraction might be owing to their strong stage presence. More interesting, however, are characters who do not appear on stage but their “absent presence” is so strong that influences the characters who do appear physically on stage. There are numerous examples of...
متن کاملInteractive Physically-Based Control of Skeleton-Driven Deformable Characters
We present an intuitive way to create dynamic motions for physically simulated, skeleton-driven deformable characters. The motion of the character is guided by the user interactively through Cartesian space control and a combination of setpoint selection. To make direct manipulation of a physically simulated character intuitive, we present a novel approach to Cartesian space control, in which t...
متن کاملDeformable object animation using reduced optimal control Citation
Keyframe animation is a common technique to generate animations of deformable characters and other soft bodies. With spline interpolation, however, it can be difficult to achieve secondary motion effects such as plausible dynamics when there are thousands of degrees of freedom to animate. Physical methods can provide more realism with less user effort, but it is challenging to apply them to qui...
متن کاملRepurposing hand animation for interactive applications
In this paper we describe a method for automatically animating interactive characters based on an existing corpus of key-framed hand-animation. The method learns separate low-dimensional embeddings for subsets of the hand-animation corresponding to different semantic labels. These embeddings use the Gaussian Process Latent Variable Model to map high-dimensional rig control parameters to a three...
متن کاملA new model for persian multi-part words edition based on statistical machine translation
Multi-part words in English language are hyphenated and hyphen is used to separate different parts. Persian language consists of multi-part words as well. Based on Persian morphology, half-space character is needed to separate parts of multi-part words where in many cases people incorrectly use space character instead of half-space character. This common incorrectly use of space leads to some s...
