چکیده
UNLABELLED PREMISE OF THE STUDY Fourteen genomic microsatellite markers were developed and characterized in honey locust, Gleditsia triacanthos, using Illumina sequencing. Due to their high variability, these markers can be applied in analyses of genetic diversity and structure, and in mating system and gene flow studies. • METHODS AND RESULTS Thirty-six individuals from across the species range were included in a genetic diversity analysis and yielded three to 20 alleles per locus. Observed heterozygosity and expected heterozygosity ranged from 0.214 to 0.944 and from 0.400 to 0.934, respectively, with minimal occurrence of null alleles. Regular segregation of maternal alleles was observed at seven loci and moderate segregation distortion at four of 11 loci that were heterozygous in the seed parent. • CONCLUSIONS Honey locust is an important agroforestry tree capable of very fast growth and tolerance of poor site conditions. This is the first report of genomic microsatellites for this species.

The 75% Isopropanol-Soluble Polysaccharides from the Endosperm of the Legume Seed of Gleditsia Triacanthos
The 75% isopropanol-soluble material from the endosperm of the legume-seed of Gleditsia triacanthos was isolated. The material extracted with boiling water was fractionated by ion-exchange chromatography and characterized. Besides minor amounts of galactomannans, major proportions of arabinans and/or arabinogalactans appear.

A long-term assumption in ecology is that species distributions correspond with their niche requirements, but evidence that species can persist in unsuitable habitat for centuries undermines the link between species and habitat. Moreover, species may be more dependent on mutualist partners than specific habitats. Most evidence connecting indigenous cultures with plant dispersal is anecdotal, bu...
متن کاملEvaluation of Carob (Ceratonia siliqua) and Honey Locust (Gleditsia triacanthos) Pods as a Feed for Sheep
The nutritive value of Ceratonia siliqua and Gleditsia triacanthos pods was determined on the basis of their chemical composition, in vitro gas production and rumen fermentation end-products. Medicago sativa was used as a reference feed material. The studied samples showed differences in chemical composition and phenolic compounds. Crude protein (CP) content was particulary low (80 g/kg DM) in ...
متن کاملPhylogenetic relationships in Gleditsia (Leguminosae) based on ITS sequences.
We used nucleotide sequences from the internal transcribed spacers and 5.8S gene of nuclear ribosomal DNA to test competing phylogenetic and biogeographic hypotheses in Gleditsia. Eleven of 13 Gleditsia species were sampled, along with two species of its sister genus, Gymnocladus. Analyses of ITS data and of a combined data set that included sequences of ITS and two chloroplast genes supported ...
متن کاملNMR spectroscopy and chemical studies of an arabinan-rich system from the endosperm of the seed of Gleditsia triacanthos.
Exhaustive extraction of the endosperm from the seed of Gleditsia triacanthos using water at room temperature and 50 degrees C left a residue, which was further extracted at 95 degrees C. Precipitation of this extract with 2-propanol yielded major amounts of galactomannan components, while the supernatant was mainly composed of arabinose-rich constituents. Two fractions were obtained by anion-e...
