چکیده

Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing is a promising technology for high data rate transmission in wideband wireless systems for achieving high downlink capabilities in the future cellular systems. To minimize the overall transmit power, the genetic algorithm approach was proposed for adaptive subcarrier and bit allocation based on channel state information. This is done by assigning one subcarrier for one user and each user a set of subcarriers and by determining the number of bits and the transmit power level for each subcarrier. The simulation results show that genetic algorithm approach produces better results compared to conventional algorithms in optimum power allocation. The results further conclude that genetic search helps fast convergence and can handle large allocations of subcarriers to users (many subcarriers to one user) without performance degradation.

Low Complexity Greedy Power Allocation Algorithm for Proportional Resource Allocation in Multi-User OFDM Systems

Multi-User Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (MU-OFDM) is an efficient technique for achieving high downlink capacity in high-speed communication systems. A key issue in MU-OFDM is the allocation of the OFDM subcarriers and power to users sharing the channel. In this paper a proportional rate-adaptive resource allocation algorithm for MU-OFDM is presented. Subcarrier and power allocati...

Cross-layer Packet-dependant OFDM Scheduling Based on Proportional Fairness

This paper assumes each user has more than one queue, derives a new packet-dependant proportional fairness power allocation pattern based on the sum of weight capacity and the packet’s priority in users’ queues, and proposes 4 new cross-layer packet-dependant OFDM scheduling schemes based on proportional fairness for heterogeneous classes of traffic. Scenario 1, scenario 2 and scenario 3 lead r...

Margin Adaptive Resource Allocation for Multi–user OFDM Systems by Particle Swarm Optimization and Differential Evolution

Like many wireless systems, Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) needs proper allocation of limited resources such as total transmit power and available frequency bandwidth among the users to meet their service requirements. In this paper, different versions of two evolutionary approaches, Differential Evolution (DE) and Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) have been applied for adapt...

Cross-layer Resource Allocation for Multi-user Communication Systems a Dissertation Submitted to the Department of Electrical Engineering and the Committee on Graduate Studies of Stanford University in Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy

Satisfaction of different QoS demands for various broadband services in wireless networks requires that multi-user packet scheduling intelligently use both channel state information (CSI) and queue state information (QSI). A combination of queuechannel-aware scheduling and power/rate allocation on each transmit dimension is known as “cross-layer resource allocation”. This thesis investigates va...
