A Note on Single Alternating Cycle Neighborhoods for the TSP
نویسندگان
چکیده
This paper investigates two different local search approaches for the TSP. Both approaches are based on the general concept of single-alternating cycle neighborhoods. The first approach, stems from the famous heuristic suggested by Lin and Kernighan and the second is based on the notion of stemand-cycles developed by Glover in the early nineties. We show that the corresponding neighborhoods are not identical and that only a subset of moves can be found when Lin & Kernighan’s gain criterion is applied.

On the computational complexity of finding a minimal basis for the guess and determine attack
Guess-and-determine attack is one of the general attacks on stream ciphers. It is a common cryptanalysis tool for evaluating security of stream ciphers. The effectiveness of this attack is based on the number of unknown bits which will be guessed by the attacker to break the cryptosystem. In this work, we present a relation between the minimum numbers of the guessed bits and uniquely restricted...
متن کاملA Constant-Factor Approximation Algorithm for TSP with Neighborhoods in the Plane
In the Euclidean TSP with neighborhoods (TSPN) problem we seek a shortest tour that visits a given set of n neighborhoods. The Euclidean TSPN generalizes the standard TSP on points. We present the first constant-factor approximation algorithm for TSPN on an arbitrary set of disjoint, connected neighborhoods in the plane. Prior approximation bounds were O(log n), except in special cases. Our app...
متن کاملOn Approximating the TSP with Intersecting Neighborhoods
In the TSP with neighborhoods problem we are given a set of n regions (neighborhoods) in the plane, and seek to find a minimum length TSP tour that goes through all the regions. We give two approximation algorithms for the case when the regions are allowed to intersect: We give the first O(1)-factor approximation algorithm for intersecting convex fat objects of comparable diameters where we are...
متن کاملNew Heuristic Algorithms for Solving Single-Vehicle and Multi-Vehicle Generalized Traveling Salesman Problems (GTSP)
Among numerous NP-hard problems, the Traveling Salesman Problem (TSP) has been one of the most explored, yet unknown one. Even a minor modification changes the problem’s status, calling for a different solution. The Generalized Traveling Salesman Problem (GTSP)expands the TSP to a much more complicated form, replacing single nodes with a group or cluster of nodes, where the objective is to fi...
متن کاملA Study of Exponential Neighborhoods for theTravelling Salesman Problem and for theQuadratic Assignment
This paper deals with so-called exponential neighborhoods for combinatorial optimization problems, i.e. with large sets of feasible solutions whose size grows exponentially with the input length. We are especially interested in exponential neighborhoods over which the TSP (respectively, the QAP) can be solved in polynomial time, and we investigate combinatorial and algorithmical questions relat...
