چکیده

Water-soluble polymers have been used for a wide variety of applications due to their versatility. Watersoluble polymers are found in many different industries including agriculture, food, plastics, pulp and paper, mining, petroleum, textiles, and waste water treatment. Often, they are used as both processing aids and components of final products. Addition of water-soluble polymers to industrial processes tends to improve control of fluid motion, which may involve drag reduction, fluid thickening, or flocculation. One of the major applications of water-soluble polymers is as processing aids in enhanced oil recovery (EOR). Specifically, water-soluble polymers have the ability to increase the viscosity of the aqueous phase during oil recovery, which increases the efficiency of the overall process.

AMPS/AAm/AAc Terpolymerization: Experimental Verification of the EVM Framework for Ternary Reactivity Ratio Estimation

The complete error-in-variables-model (EVM) framework, consisting of both design of experiments and parameter estimation stages, is applied to the terpolymerization of 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropane sulfonic acid (AMPS, M1), acrylamide (AAm, M2) and acrylic acid (AAc, M3). This water-soluble terpolymer has potential for applications in enhanced oil recovery, but the associated terpolymerization k...

Radiation Syntheses of Molecularly Imprinted Polymer for Metal Ion Selective Separation

The copolymer metal complexes in the form of imprinted polymers were prepared from Poly (vinyl alcohol) (PVA), Acrylic acid (AAc), Acrylamide (AAm) and 2-Acrylamido-2methyl propane sulfonic acid (AMPS) monomers irradiated in presence of different metal ions and crosslinking agent. Characteristics and some properties of the prepared imprinted and grafted polymers were investigated. Also the poss...

Determination of the compositional distribution of copolymers by frontal analysis continuous capillary electrophoresis.

Frontal analysis continuous capillary electrophoresis (FACCE) was carried out for a series of random copolymers of an ionic monomer, sodium 2-(acrylamido)-2-methylpropanesulfonate (AMPS), and a nonionic monomer, acrylamide (AAM). The electropherograms appeared in order of anionic content and were generally sigmoidal, in contrast to that of hyaluronic acid (HA), which was abrupt and discontinuou...

Extensional rheology and stability behavior of alumina suspensions in the presence of AMPS-modified poly(carboxylate ether)-based copolymers

A series of polycarboxylate ether-based copolymers that include acrylic acid, 2acrylamido-2-methylpropane sulfonic acid, and polyethylene glycol-1000 was synthesized and the performance of these copolymers as rheology modifiers in aqueous alumina suspensions was characterized. We discussed the effect of monomer feed ratio and molecular weight on dispersing ability of these copolymers and on ext...
