Magnetic resonance angiography of the portal venous system

چکیده
The portal venous system must be evaluated before planning the treatment of patients with portal hypertension, portal vein thrombosis, hepatic veins occlusion or a tumour of the liver, pancreas, or bile duct. Colour Doppler ultrasonography (US), catheter angiography, computed tomographic angiography (CTA) and magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) can be used for portal venous system imaging. Colour Doppler US is non-invasive, relatively inexpensive and can provide information on portal blood flow, but it is operator and patient dependent (acoustic window, uncooperative patient).1 Catheter angiography (indirect portography, percutaneous transhepatic portography, and direct splenoportography) are invasive and limited by flow dynamics.2 CTA can demonstrate the portal venous system in a short time, but this Radiol Oncol 2004; 38(4): 291-7.

Total anomalous pulmonary venous connection draining into the portal vein in a 2-month-old infant: multidetector computed tomography angiography diagnosis
Early diagnosis and surgical correction is highly important for survival. In the evaluation of TAPVC, imaging methods have been used. Recent advances Total anomalous pulmonary venous connection (TAPVC) is a rare congenital cardiac anomaly in which the pulmonary veins fail to connect with the left atrium and connect directly to the right atrium or to one of the systemic veins. Early diagnosis an...
متن کاملBlood Flow Simulation in an Aorta with a mild coarctation Using Magnetic Resonance Angiography and Finite Volume Method
Coarctation of the aorta is one of the five main congenital cardiovascular failures, accounting for 6–8 percent of these failures. This research aimed to simulate the blood flow of a seventeen-year-old male teen with a mild coarctation at one-third of his aorta's descending branch. The simulation was performed by extracting the domain and the input pulsatile velocity signal as the boundary cond...

INTRODUCTION Portosystemic shunts are anomalous vessels that join the portal and systemic venous circulation, allowing most of the portal blood to bypass the liver and enter the systemic circulation and are classified as intrahepatic or extrahepatic. Portosystemic shunting occurs either as a single congenital shunt or as multiple acquired shunts due to chronic portal hypertension. Radiographic ...
متن کاملCross-sectional imaging of congenital and acquired abnormalities of the portal venous system.
Knowing the normal anatomy, variations, congenital and acquired pathologies of the portal venous system are important, especially when planning liver surgery and percutaneous interventional procedures. The portal venous system pathologies can be congenital such as agenesis of portal vein (PV) or can be involved by other hepatic disorders such as cirrhosis and malignancies. In this article, we p...
متن کاملVisualization and Quantification of 3D Flow Characteristics in the Portal Venous System
Introduction: Chronic liver disease is an important cause of morbidity and mortality. Almost 20% of patients have cirrhosis at presentation [1]. Previous studies have shown that alteration of hepatic perfusion parameters measured with CT or ultrasound in patients with liver cirrhosis correlate with the severity of chronic liver disease and the therapeutic outcome [2,3]. Recent studies assess li...
