چکیده
The in vitro antibacterial activity of K-20 prepared by addition of chlorhexidine dihydrochloride to a base sealer was compared with that of a manufactured product. The acute toxicity of K-20 was also investigated in the animals. The results demonstrated that K-20 prevents bacterial propagation without an unfavorable influence on the living tissue. K-20 was also evaluated clinically in cases of the root canal filling. Ninety three pulpless teeth filled with K-20 and guttapercha points and followed up for more than six months, were successful treated.

Antibacterial activity of different root canal sealers against Enterococcus faecalis
BACKGROUND The aim of the present study was to compare in vitro the antimicrobial activity of different root canal sealers against Enterococcus faecalis, prior and subsequent to setting. MATERIAL AND METHODS Agar diffusion test (ADT) was used for evaluating the antibacterial activity of non-set sealer while the direct contact test (DCT) was used for after setting. RESULTS ADT: Except for To...
متن کاملComparing a Combination of Saline and Chlorhexidine with Saline as Root Canal Irrigation Solutions in Pulpectomy of the Primary Molars in 6-9 Years Old Children, A Double Blind Clinical Trial
Introduction: Using irrigation solutions in pulpectomy procedures for children is the best technique to dissolve and remove the soft necrotic materials during instrumentation. Normal saline solution (NSS) has no antibacterial activity and only results in root canal cleaning during irrigation. The 2% chlorhexidine gluconate (CHX) solution significantly decreases bacterial coloni...
متن کاملIn-Vitro Comparison of Antibacterial Efficacy of a New Irrigation Solution Containing Nanosilver with Sodium Hypochlorite and Chlorhexidine
Objective: Antibacterial properties of silver nanoparticles have recently come into the spotlight in endodontic therapy. This study was conducted aiming at comparing the antimicrobial activity of a new irrigation solution containing nanosilver particles with that of sodium hypochlorite and chlorhexidine against Escherichia coli, Enterococcus faecalis, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Candida albicans...
متن کاملAntimicrobial activity of three different endodontic sealers on the enterococcus faecalis and lactobacillus (in vitro)
Introduction: Growth and proliferation of the remaining microorganisms within the root canals may destroy the surrounding tissue of the root and leads to periapical lesion. Consequently, the complete elimination of microorganisms from the root canal is a n important goal of endodontic therapy. Endodontic sealers do not provide complete seal in root canal system, and micro spaces have always rem...
