After the disappointment of not getting an NCAA bid had mellowed somewhat, Coach Richard "Doc Sauers was the first to point to the age old cliche, "there'salways next year." And next year will be the seventeenth time Doc has faced a next year. In the previous sixteen he has never failed to come up with a winner, and prospects for his newest challenge seem bright to him. Admittedly he will be losing the services o f some excel lent ballplayers. His graduat ing Co-Captains, Alan Reid and Jack Jo rdan are the ones he feels he will have the most t roub le replacing. Jo rdan holds the number six spo t on the all time Albany Stute scoring list, with 1,011 career points . The Coach speaks o f Jack as "pound for pound and inch for inch the beat rebounder I ever had,...a real good competitor." Alan Reid was also t r emendous ly valuable t o the Danes in his t w o year s t in t with them. His hands were amazingly quick and amazingly accurate . "Al was w i thou t a d o u b t " , c o m m e n t s Doc,"the quickest , fastest man I have ever coached . " He used his speed of hand t o lead the team in clean steals and conversions, and also in making a habit of stuffing o p p o nents who were going in all a lone on break-away luyups. Offensively, his shoo t ing be tween this year and last rose almost 12% as he finished the season roughly 17% from the field.
