چکیده
esults: At 40-Hz stimulation, SZ and AFF had significantly reduced phase locking compared with HC. This deficit was more pronounced ver the left hemisphere in SZ. Evoked power at 40 Hz was also reduced in the patients compared with HC. At 30-Hz stimulation phase ocking and evoked power were reduced in both patient groups. The 20-Hz ASSR did not differ between groups, but phase locking and voked power of the 40-Hz harmonic of the 20-Hz ASSR were reduced in both SZ and AFF. Phase locking of this 40-Hz harmonic was orrelated with total positive symptoms in SZ.

Gamma-band auditory steady-state responses are impaired in first episode psychosis.
BACKGROUND In chronic schizophrenia and chronic bipolar disorder, gamma band (30-100 Hz) auditory steady-state electroencephalogram responses (ASSRs) are reduced in power and phase locking, likely reflecting neural circuit dysfunction. Here we examined whether gamma ASSR deficits are also present at first hospitalization for psychosis. METHODS Subjects were 16 first episode schizophrenia pati...

Background and Aim: In recent years, a number of studies have been done on patients with first-episode of psychosis. The importance of this issue is to improve outcome of the psychosis. Due to lack of similar research in Iran and differences in culture as well as in treatment program, investigation of demographic characteristics and treatment of patients with first-episode of psychosis could be...
متن کاملEffect of Mild Cognitive Impairment and Alzheimer Disease on Auditory Steady-State Responses
Introduction: Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI), a disorder of the elderly people, is difficult to diagnose and often progresses to Alzheimer Disease (AD). Temporal region is one of the initial areas, which gets impaired in the early stage of AD. Therefore, auditory cortical evoked potential could be a valuable neuromarker for detecting MCI and AD. Methods: In this study, the thresholds of...
متن کاملEvent-related potentials and changes of brain rhythm oscillations during working memory activation in patients with first-episode psychosis.
BACKGROUND Earlier contributions have documented significant changes in sensory, attention-related endogenous event-related potential (ERP) components and θ band oscillatory responses during working memory activation in patients with schizophrenia. In patients with first-episode psychosis, such studies are still scarce and mostly focused on auditory sensory processing. The present study aimed t...
متن کاملFast Hearing-Threshold Estimation Using Multiple Auditory Steady-State Responses with Narrow-Band Chirps and Adaptive Stimulus Patterns
This paper describes the estimation of hearing thresholds in normal-hearing and hearing-impaired subjects on the basis of multiple-frequency auditory steady-state responses (ASSRs). The ASSR was measured using two new techniques: (i) adaptive stimulus patterns and (ii) narrow-band chirp stimuli. ASSR thresholds in 16 normal-hearing and 16 hearing-impaired adults were obtained simultaneously at ...
