چکیده
Revisions of two new species groups of the genus Agra Fabricius are presented with the following species described as new: pusilla group Agra cruciaria sp. n. (Brazil), Agra grace sp. n. (Ecuador, Perú), Agra max sp. n. (Brazil), Agra minasianus sp. n. (Brazil), Agra notpusilla sp. n. (Brazil), Agra pseudopusilla sp. n. (Brazil); piranha group Agra ce sp. n. (Perú), Agra risseri sp. n. (Bolivia, Brazil), Agra maia sp. n. (Bolivia), Agra piranha sp. n. (Ecuador); Agra tiputini sp. n. (Ecuador). Species of these two groups have adults that are the smallest in the entire genus, although this does not indicate they are closely related based on other attributes. All species are Amazonian

متن کاملArboreallty and morphological evolution in ground beetles (Carabidae: Harpalinae): testing the taxon pulse model.
One-third to two-thirds of all tropical carabids, or ground beetles, are arboreal, and evolution of arboreality has been proposed to be a dead end in this group. Many arboreal carabids have unusual morphological features that have been proposed to be adaptations for life on vegetation, including large, hemispheric eyes; an elongated prothorax; long elytra; long legs; bilobed fourth tarsomeres; ...

متن کاملAncient associations of aquatic beetles and tank bromeliads in the Neotropical forest canopy.
Water reservoirs formed by the leaf axils of bromeliads are a highly derived system for nutrient and water capture that also house a diverse fauna of invertebrate specialists. Here we investigate the origin and specificity of bromeliad-associated insects using Copelatinae diving beetles (Dytiscidae). This group is widely distributed in small water bodies throughout tropical forests, but a subse...
متن کاملPartial faunistic study of beetles (Arthropoda: Coleoptera) in Taleqan region (Iran) and their mite associates
The faunistic investigation of beetles has been of a great importance in Iran due to the impresive diversity of species, which is highly promoted by the climatic variation of the Country. Therefore, detection of the ingenious regions, such as Taleqan, is important. In this study, mite-related beetles which were sampled from different areas of Taleqan were investigated and 14 species belonging t...
