The Assessment of The Emission Level From Heavy- Duty Truck Under Actual Operating Conditions

چکیده
The paper presents an analysis of the gaseous exhaust emissions along with an analysis of the size and mass distribution of particulate matter from a Euro V compliant road tractor. The vehicle was fitted with an engine of the displacement of 15,6 dm, maximum power output 412 kW generating a maximum torque of 2700 Nm (1991 lb/ft). For the tests the authors used portable exhaust emission analyzers (PEMS: SEMTECH DS and AVL Micro Soot Sensor. The measurements were conducted under actual operating conditions in traffic typical of long distance European haulage. The analysis of the obtained results was divided into two parts. The first part was related to the assessment of the influence of the traffic conditions on the exhaust emissions and gas mileage. The second part was related to the assessment of the influence of the engine operating conditions on the said exhaust emissions. The obtained exhaust emission results were compared to the emission limits specified in the Euro 5 standard. Keywords— PEMS, heavy-duty truck, exhaust emissions

On-road Emission Characteristics of Logistics Transportation Vehicles in Chengdu
On-road vehicle tests of three diesel trucks were conducted by a portable emission measurement system (PEMS) in Chengdu, China. SEMTECH-ECOSTAR provided by Sensors, Inc and MI2, an emissions measuring instrument powered by the Pegasor Particulate Sensor (PPS) were employed to detect gaseous and particle emissions during the tests. The impacts of speed and acceleration on emissions were analyzed...
متن کاملA Fuel-Based Inventory for Heavy-Duty Diesel Truck Emissions
A fuel-based method for estimating heavy-duty diesel truck emissions is described. In this method, emission factors are normalized to fuel consumption; vehicle activity is measured by the amount of diesel fuel consumed. For the San Francisco Bay Area during summer 1996, on-road heavy-duty diesel trucks were estimated at the upper bound to emit 110 × 103 kg/day of nitrogen oxides (NOx) and 3.7 ×...
متن کاملPrediction of Major Pollutants Emission in Direct-Injection Dual-Fuel Diesel And Natural-Gas Engines
The dual-fuel diesel engine (D.F.D.E) is a conventional diesel engine in which much of the energy released, hence power, comes from the combustion of gaseous fuel such as natural gas. The exhaust emission characteristics of the D.F.D.E needs further refinements, particularly in terms of reduction of Unburnt Hydrocarbons (U7HC) and Carbon Monoxide (CO) emission, because the concentration of thes...
متن کاملThe effect of hydrogen and nitrogen addition on heavy duty diesel engine emissions under reactivity controlled compression ignition combustion
The aim of this study is to evaluate a heavy duty diesel engine operation under reactivity controlled compression ignition combustion fueled with diesel oil and natural gas enriched with hydrogen and nitrogen addition. In this study, a single cylinder heavy– duty diesel engine is set to operate at 9.4bar gross IMEP (Mid- Load). The amount of injected diesel oil per cycle into the engine combust...
متن کاملTRB 08-1311 Link-Based Emission Factors for Heavy-Duty Diesel Trucks Based on Real-World Data
Heavy-duty diesel vehicles contribute a substantial fraction of nitrogen oxides and particulate matter to on-road vehicle emission inventory. The objectives of this study are to estimate roadway link-based emission rates for heavy-duty trucks for use in emission inventory estimation, and to quantify the impact of factors affecting truck emissions. A speed-acceleration modal emissions approach i...
