Interval Type-2 Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process for Sustainable Energy Sources Selection

Selectingsustainableenergysourcesisoneoftheeffortstoensuringoptimumenergyconsumption. However, the selectionprocess is not straight forward as it requiresmulti-criteria that inherited uncertaintyandqualitativeevaluation.Multi-criteriaevaluationthatbasedonfuzzysettheoryisone ofthewell-knownmethodstohandleuncertaintyindecisionmakingandvaguenessofinformation. Thispaperdevelopsapreferenceforsustainableenergyusingthelinguisticevaluationofinterval type-2fuzzyanalytichierarchyprocess(IT2FAHP).Sevenalternativesofsustainableenergysources thatcloselyrelatedtoninecriteriawereidentifiedasthehierarchicalstructureofthedecisionmaking problem.Twoacademiciansandanengineerattachedtogovernmentagencieswereinvitedtoprovide linguisticevaluation.ThelinguisticevaluationswereanalyzedusingthenewlydevelopedIT2FAHP. Theseven-stepcomputationalmethodwasimplementedandtheresultssuggestthatsolarenergyis thebestalternativeinselectingtheviablesustainableenergy.
