چکیده
JNCI | Editorials 569 Some medical decisions are fairly straightforward. If you break a leg, the recommended treatment is a cast, elevation, and crutches. But if your breast biopsy leads to a diagnosis of ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS), the treatment path is much less clear. A diagnosis of DCIS brings uncertainty. With the introduction of population-wide screening mammography, radiologists have increasingly recommended evaluation of subtle breast abnormalities. Concurrently, the incidence of DCIS has dramatically Ductal Carcinoma In Situ (DCIS): Raising Signposts on an Ill-Marked Treatment Path

Androgen Receptor Analysis in Relation to Estrogen and Progesterone Receptors as well as Histological Grade for Ductal Carcinoma In Situ of the Breast
Background and Objective: Since the advent of mammography screening, ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) of the breast has been diagnosed increasingly. In contrast to the situation in invasive breast carcinoma, there are only a few reports on androgen receptor (AR) status in DCIS and few reports on estrogen ...
متن کاملImmunohistochemical Evaluation of Human p53 Tumor Suppressor Protein Content in Ductal Carcinoma in Situ of the Breast
The focus of this study was to determine if early detection of mutant p53 accumulation may be an early indicator of tumor aggressiveness and transformation to invasive breast cancer. For this purpose, the p53 content of 100 human breast biopsies classified as ductal carcinoma (DCIS), was evaluated by immunohistochemical method. All specimens were microscopically classified into histologic types...
متن کاملA Study of Matrix Metalloproteinase 9 and CD31 Expression through Immunohistochemistry in Invasive Breast Cancer
Background & Aims: This study was performed to investigate possible relationships between the manifestation of stromal cells (fibroblasts and/or myofibroblasts) by focusing on expression of their matrix metalloproteinase 9 (MMP9) and possible angiogenesis based on CD31 and CD34 antigen expression during the various steps of hyperplastic changes to precancerousstate and invasive breast cancer. M...
متن کاملImproving Therapeutic Ratios with the Oncotype DX® Ductal Carcinoma In Situ (DCIS) Score
Ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) is a non-invasive breast cancer comprising nearly 25% of breast cancer diagnoses in the mammographic era. Current guidelines recommend breast-conserving surgery followed by adjuvant radiotherapy; however, controversy exists regarding the appropriateness of these recommendations. Some women with DCIS will never recur, which raises the concern of over-treatment. Co...
متن کاملIs there a difference in FDG PET findings of invasive ductal carcinoma of the breast with and without coexisting DCIS?
Objective(s): Studies have reported that invasive ductal carcinoma (IDC) with coexisting ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) show lower metastatic potential and recurrence and better overall survival than pure IDC. In this study, we assessed F-18 fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) imagesof patients with newly diagnosed IDC to...
