چکیده

The effect of three dentin contacting materials on three-dimensional cultures of pulp-derived cells was evaluated in a dentin barrier test device. The test materials (Syntac Classic, Prompt L-Pop, Vitrebond) were applied on dentin disks of different thicknesses ranging from 100 to 500 microm. After 24 h of exposure with and without perfusion of the test chamber, cell survival was evaluated using the MTT assay and related to a nontoxic control material. Syntac Classic decreased cell activity significantly (p 0.05). It could be demonstrated that dentin acts as a barrier, decreasing the elicited cytotoxicity with increasing thickness. This effect is material related, showing little influence for the nontoxic or the glutaraldehyde containing material.

Comparison of Cytotoxicity of Three Dentin Bonding Systems with Two Thicknesses of Dentin Barrier on L929 Cell Line

INTRODUCTION Along with introduction of dentin bonding agents (DBA), their clinical use as lining materials is increasing rapidly. Since remaining dentinal thickness (RDT) has always been a concern for cytopathic effect of restorative materials, its effect on reduction of cytotoxicity of these materials especially DBAs is critical. The purpose of this study was to evaluate and compare the cytot...

Estimation of Remnant Dentin Thickness under Proximal Caries Using Digital Bitewing Radiography: An In-Vitro Study

Objectives: In restorative dentistry, it is essential to estimate the amount of remnant tooth structure after caries removal to make the best treatment plan. The present study was aimed to determine whether there is a correlation between the real thickness of remnant dentin under carious lesion and the radiographical measurement from photostimulable phosphor plates (PSPs). Methods: a whole numb...

Evaluation of cytotoxic effects of six self-etching adhesives with direct and indirect contact tests.

This study evaluated the cytotoxicity of self-etching primers/adhesives by direct contact and dentin barrier tests. The three two-step self-etching systems Clearfil SE Bond (CSE), Clearfil Protect Bond (CPB), Prime&Bond NT/NRC (PB) and one-step self-etching systems Reactmer Bond (RB), Clearfil Tri-S Bond (CTS), and Adper Prompt L-Pop (AP) were examined. In direct contact tests, L929 cells were ...
