Microstructure of Ultrafine- Grained Metals after Ecap

چکیده
This paper was aimed at verification of functionality of the ECAP technology at extrusion of the copper, alluminium alloys and steel. Experiments were made on equipment, which is demonstrated in the Fig 1. Deformation forces were measured during extrusion, resistance to deformation was calculated and deformation speed was determined approximately. Analysis of structure was made with use of light microscopy and TEM. The samples of Cu and Al alloys were extruded at room temperature. For the samples of steel was used the two-stage pressing, when the samples were extruded at temperature of approx. T1 = 325 C and T2 = 220 C. In order to increase concentration of deformation in volume of the sample the samples were after individual passes turned around their longitudinal axis by 90 o and they were extruded again. Cross-section of original samples of Cu and Al alloys was 8 x 8 mm and their length was 32 mm and cross-section of original samples of Fe alloy was 10 x 10 mm and their length was 40 mm .

Effect of ECAP Strain on Deformation Behavior at Low Temperature Superplastic Regime of Ultrafine Grained 5083 Al Alloy Fabricated by ECAP
A series of tensile testing was carried out on the ultrafine grained 5083 Al alloy, which was fabricated by equal channel angular pressing (ECAP) with different ECAP strains, at low temperature superplastic (LTS) temperature of 548K. This investigation was aimed at examining the effect of the ECAP strain inducing different microstructure in the alloy on the deformation mechanisms at LTS regime....
متن کاملMechanical Properties and Microstructure Development of Ultrafine-grained Cu Processed by ECAP
Technical purity Cu (99.95 wt%) polycrystals have been processed at room temperature by equal channel angular pressing. The results of mechanical tests and the microstructure characterization by various experimental techniques are presented. The yield stress as well as the strength were shown to increase with increasing strain and exceed the respective values of a coarse-grained material. The m...

Micro-forming with ultrafine-grained (UFG) materials is a promising direction for the fabrication of micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS) components due to the improved formability, good surface quality, and excellent mechanical properties it provides. In this paper, micro-compression tests were performed using UFG pure aluminum processed by equal-channel angular pressing (ECAP) with subsequ...
متن کاملBulk Nanostructured Refractory Metals with Enhanced Mechanical Properties Produced by Equal Channel Angular Pressing
The main aim of the current project has been to produce a batch of bulk billets with ultrafine-grained (UFG) microstructure and enhanced strength made of two refractory metals such as tungsten and tantalum. To process bulk W billets with UFG structure having a long-length size more than 100 mm we have developed and successfully used a new approach based on a combination of equal angular pressin...
متن کاملRecrystallization texture during ECAP processing of ultrafine/nano grained magnesium alloy
An ultrafine/nano grained AZ31 magnesium alloy was produced through four-pass ECAP processing. TEM microscopy indicated that recrystallized regions included nano grains of 75 nm. Pole figures showed that a fiber basal texture with two-pole peaks was developed after four passes, where a basal pole peak lies parallel to the extrusion direction (ED) and the other ~20° away from the transverse dire...
