(2) A thin acrylic plate is rigidly attached to this tube in such a way that the lumen of the tube opens onto the upper surface of the plate. This plate (8 mm. in diameter and approximately circular in outline) is curved to fit and firmly sutured to the sclera. When covered by a flap of conjunctiva and Tenon's capsule, the plate forms the floor of a blel) wvhich is in free communication with the anter-ior chamber aild cannot shrink to an area less than that of the plate.
