Bladder Physiology and Application

چکیده
Aims of course/workshop Because the urinary bladder can contract voluntarily through myogenic excitation, it would be reasonable to predict that the bladder has the potential for self-excitation. The physiological effects of the hyperpolarization-activated nucleotide-gated (HCN) channel in initiating and modulating bladder excitability need to be investigated. Moreover, the interstitial cells of Cajal (ICCs) in the bladder have been suggested to participate in the bladder pacemaking and signal transmission. However, the relationship between the ICCs and HCN channels needs to be clarified. In this study, the HCN channel and its subtypes in the bladder, as well as their relationships to the bladder ICCs, were investigated.

Review Article: Application of Electrical Impedance Spectroscopy in Bladder Cancer Screening
Introduction Bladder cancer is the most common malignancy in elderly people and most bladder cancers are transitional cell carcinomas (TCC). Bladder pathology is usually investigated visually by cystoscopy and this technique can represent different conditions ranging from simple inflammation to flat CIS. However, biopsies must be taken from the suspected area to obtain diagnostic information. T...
متن کاملSuppression of detrusor-sphincter dysynergia by GABA-receptor activation in the lumbosacral spinal cord in spinal cord-injured rats.
We investigated the effects of intrathecal application of GABAA- or GABAB-receptor agonists on detrusor-sphincter dyssynergia (DSD) in spinal cord transection (SCT) rats. Adult female Sprague-Dawley rats were used. At 4 wk after Th9-10 SCT, simultaneous recordings of intravesical pressure and urethral pressure were performed under an awake condition to examine the effect of intrathecal applicat...
متن کاملVesicoanal, urethroanal, and urethrovesical reflexes initiated by lower urinary tract irritation in the rat.
Irritation of the urinary bladder causes activation of normally "silent" nociceptive primary afferent fibers. In the present study, it is reported that irritation of the urinary bladder or urethra with infusion of 0.5% acetic acid robustly activates motoneurons that innervate the striated muscle of the external anal sphincter via spinal reflex mechanisms. The activation of anal motoneurons foll...
متن کاملBladder hyperactivity and increased excitability of bladder afferent neurons associated with reduced expression of Kv1.4 alpha-subunit in rats with cystitis.
Hyperexcitability of C-fiber bladder afferent pathways has been proposed to contribute to urinary frequency and bladder pain in chronic bladder inflammation including interstitial cystitis. However, the detailed mechanisms inducing afferent hyperexcitability after bladder inflammation are not fully understood. Thus, we investigated changes in the properties of bladder afferent neurons in rats w...
متن کاملExpression of functional nicotinic acetylcholine receptors in rat urinary bladder epithelial cells.
Although nicotinic acetylcholine receptors in both the central and peripheral nervous systems play a prominent role in the control of urinary bladder function, little is known regarding expression or function of nicotinic receptors in the bladder epithelium, or urothelium. Nicotinic receptors have been described in epithelial cells lining the upper gastrointestinal tract, respiratory tract, and...
متن کاملPreparation of decellularized three dimentional scaffolds as the model for tissue engineering and their functional assessments in vitro application of blastema tissue
Tissue engineering is based on three main factors including scaffolds, cells and growth factors. Natural scaffolds derived from decellularized tissues and organs have been successfully used in tissue engineering. Decellularization studies have shown that natural scaffolds which maintaine their main structure and properties could be a suitable tool for studying cellular behaviors and preparation...
