Cardiac Myxoma Removal and Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting in a Middle-Aged Woman: A Case Report
Cardiac myxoma is usually a benign tumor in the left atrium that accounts for more than 50% of primary cardiac tumors. A 55-year-old female referred to our hospital with chest pain, referred pain to the left hand, and severe dyspnea. Transthoracic Doppler Echocardiography was performed and the results showed a large and mobile left atrial mass without any attachment to the interatrial septum. I...
متن کاملLarge myxoma causing cardiac arrest during surgery
The patient was a 67-year-old woman with a history of worsening dyspnea over several months. Cardiac echocardiography showed a large, mobile left atrial myxoma. Emergency surgery was performed. Cardiac arrest occurred during repositioning of the heart to cannulate the inferior vena cava and transesophageal echocardiography revealed the large myxoma obstructing the left ventricle. Cardiopulmonar...
متن کاملA giant, free-floating mass in the left atrium in a patient with atrial fibrillation.
A large intracardiac mass is a rare condition and one with an extremely high risk of haemodynamic and embolic complications. Urgent surgical excision is the treatment of choice, and the histological examination reveals the exact nature of the mass, usually a myxoma or a thrombus. We present the case of an 80-year-old woman, with a history of atrial fibrillation, who was admitted because of a se...
