Towards a Measurement Ontology Pattern Language

چکیده
Measurement is an important activity in several domains. Although there are specific concepts regarding measurement in each domain, some concepts are common to all of them. This paper presents a Measurement Ontology Pattern Language (M-OPL) that addresses the measurement core conceptualization. M-OPL can be used for building measurement ontologies to several domains. The ontology patterns that compose M-OPL are developed taking the Unified Foundational Ontology (UFO) as a basis. As an example, we present the use of M-OPL for building a software measurement domain ontology.

Ontology Patterns and Beyond - Towards a Universal Pattern Language
In this paper we argue for a broader view of ontology patterns and therefore present different use-cases where drawbacks of the current declarative pattern languages can be seen. We also discuss usecases where a declarative pattern approach can replace procedural-coded ontology patterns. With previous work on an ontology pattern language in mind we argue for a general pattern language.
متن کاملTowards a Simple but Useful Ontology Design Pattern Representation Language
The need for a representation language for ontology design patterns has long been recognized. However, the body of literature on the topic is still rather small and does not sufficiently reflect the diverse requirements on such a language. Herein, we propose a simple but useful and extendable approach which is fully compatible with the Web Ontology Language and should be easy to adopt by the co...
متن کاملFrom a Pattern Language to a Pattern Ontology Approach for CSCL Script Design
Collaborative activities, in which students actively interact with each other, have proved to provide significant learning benefits. In Computer-Supported Collaborative Learning (CSCL), these collaborative activities are assisted by technologies. However, the use of computers does not guarantee collaboration, as free collaboration does not necessary lead to fruitful learning. Therefore, practit...
متن کاملAttitudes towards English Language Norms in the Expanding Circle: Development and Validation of a new Model and Questionnaire
This paper describes the development and validation of a new model and questionnaire to measure Iranian English as a foreign language learners’ attitudes towards the use of native versus non-native English language norms. Based on a comprehensive review of the related literature and interviews with domain experts, five factors were identified. A draft version of a questionnaire based on those f...
متن کاملTowards a Service Ontology Pattern Language
In this paper we partially present an initial version of an Ontology Pattern Language, called S-OPL, describing the core conceptualization of services as a network of interconnected ontology modeling patterns. S-OPL builds on a commitment-based core ontology for services (UFO-S) and has been developed to support the engineering of ontologies involving services in different domains. S-OPL patter...
