چکیده

A high-gain low sidelobe level array antenna that is fed by a radial waveguide and designed to operate over a frequency range is considered. Assuming azimuthally symmetric excitation, the radiation pattern of the circular array is approximated by the space factor for the equivalent circular aperture and a simple and efficient tool is introduced for analysis of the array radiation pattern. The effect of the tapering, for both paraboloidal and bell-shaped aperture amplitude distributions, and the consequences of the phase errors, caused by the variation with frequency of the electrical lengths in the radial waveguide feed structure, on the gain and sidelobe level are studied in detail. Results obtained based on the proposed analysis are validated with respect to experimental data available in the literature. They are applicable to designs of arrays as well as aperture antennas.

A low cross-polarization slot array antenna in the narrow wall of ridge waveguide is presented. A non-angled slot which is created in the narrow wall of the ridge waveguide is considered to be used as radiating resonant slot. The normalized resistance and normalized reactance curves are presented for design purposes. A six element slot array waveguide antenna with ridges on its narrow wall is t...

On Reducing the Phase Errors in the Aperture of a Radial Waveguide Pin-fed Non-resonant Array Antenna

With a proper design, the aperture field of a conventional radial waveguide pin-fed non-resonant array antenna (RWPFAA) can be rendered equiphase at a given central frequency. However, when the operating frequency deviates from this central frequency, the aperture field will exhibit an undesired conical phase error. To alleviate this problem, we propose a novel design in which the frequency-dep...

Improvement the reflection coefficient of Waveguide-Fed Phased-Array Antenna utilizing Liquid Crystal

Abstract— This work investigates the improvement of the active reflection coefficient of waveguide-fed phased-array antenna using liquid crystal layers. The anisotropy properties of liquid crystal layer can be employed to eliminate blind scan angle and improve the wide angle impedance matching of the waveguide-fed phased array antennas. The authors have expressed the modal analysis of the waveg...
