Interaction of Electromagnetic Wave and Plasma Slab with Partially Linear and Sinu- Soidal Electron Density Profile

چکیده
Interaction of an electromagnetic wave and an inhomogeneous plasma slab with electron distribution in the form of partially linear and sinusoidal profiles is analysed to determine new reflection, absorbtion and transmission characteristics. Broadband and tunable absorbtion performance of the plasma layer accompanied with narrowband reflection characteristic is presented as the function of electron density profile parameters and external magnetic field excitation. According to the resulting performance characteristics, proposed plasma layer is found to be useful as a new absorbing layer for shielding and stealth applications.

Transparency of overdense plasma with V shape density profile
In this study, we investigate the transparency of an overdense inhomogeneous plasma slab. This anomalous transmission is achieved when the conditions provided for the incident electromagnetic wave to excite coupled surface waves on the both sides of the slab. These conditions require that the homogeneous overdense plasma, or the metallic film, is placed between two dielectric layers. Here, the ...
متن کاملCharacteristics of Electromagnetic Wave Propagation through a Magnetised Plasma Slab with Linearly Varying Electron Den- Sity
Characteristics of electromagnetic wave propagation through a magnetized plasma slab with linear electron density profile is analysed. In the numerical analysis, cold, weakly ionized, collisional and steady state plasma layer is divided into sufficiently thin, adjacent subslabs, in each of which plasma parameters are constant. Reflection and transmission coefficients are calculated for discreti...
متن کاملTheory of Gas Ionization by Intense Electromagnetic Fields
The distribution function of the electrons produced in the interaction between an intense electromagnetic wave and a neutral gas is derived and is shown to be nonequilibrium and anisotropic. By assuming that the time scale of gas ionization is much greater than the field period, it is shown that the electron distribution function formed in microwave and optical discharges has sharp anisotropy a...
متن کاملAnalysis of Propagation and Polarization Characteristics of Electromagnetic Waves through Nonuniform Magnetized Plasma Slab Using Propagator Matrix Method
An analytical technique referred to as the propagator matrix method (PMM) is presented to study the problem of electromagnetic (EM) waves interacting with the nonuniform magnetized plasma. In this method, the state vector is proposed to describe the characteristics of eigen waves in anisotropic medium, and state vectors at two different locations are related with each other by the propagator ma...

Magnetically confined plasma can be heated with high power microwave sources. In spherical torus the electron plasma frequency exeeds the electron cyclotron frequency (EC) and, as a consequence, electromagnetic waves at fundamental and low harmonic EC cannot propagate within the plasma. In contrast, electron Bernstein waves (EBWs) readily propagate in spherical torus plasma and are absorbed str...
