A Bandwidth Reservation Protocol for Speech/Data Integration in TDMA-Based Advanced Mobile Systems
نویسندگان
چکیده
The traffic performance of third generation mobile systems is greatly influenced by the multiple access protocols used in the radio access subsystem. The paper introduces an access protocol, SIR (Service Integration Radio Access), which has the potential for accommodating the requirements of speech and bursty data traffic in an efficient way. SIR is evolved from a protocol (PRMA++) studied in the framework of a TDMA-based version of the European Universal Mobile Telecommunication System, UMTS, and uses dedicated mechanisms for data bandwidth request collection and servicing.

متن کاملA TDMA-based bandwidth reservation protocol for QoS routing in a wireless mobile ad hoc network
This paper considers the bandwidth reservation problem in a mobile ad hoc network (MANET) to support QoS (quality-of-service) routing. We approach this problem by assuming a common channel shared by all hosts under a TDMA (Time Division Multiple Access) channel model. Existing solutions have addressed this problem by assuming a stronger multi-antenna model [3], [6], where the bandwidth of a lin...
متن کاملA Review of Packet Reservation Multiple Access
The rapid technological advances and innovations of the past few decades have pushed wireless communication from concept to reality. The popularity of wireless communication systems can be seen almost everywhere in the form of cellular networks, WLANs, and WPANs. Packet-switched technology has been demonstrated as effective in cellular radio systems with short propagation delay, not only for da...
متن کاملC-PRMA: a Centralized Packet Reservation Multiple Access for Local Wireless Communications
Packet switched technology has been demonstrated effective in cellular radio systems with short propagation delay, not only for data but also for voice transmission. In fact, packet voice can efficiently exploit speech on-off activity to improve bandwidth utilization over TDMA. Such an approach has been first suggested in the Packet Reservation Multiple Access (PRMA) technique, an adaptation of...
