چکیده

Recent results in interactive proof systems [?][?] [?] seem to indicate that it is easier for a prover in a single prover interactive proof system to cheat the verifier than it is for a prover in a multiple prover interactive proof system. We show that this is not the case for a single prover in which all but a fixed polynomial of the prover’s space is erased between each round. One consequence of this is that any multiple prover interactive protocol in which the provers need only a polynomial amount of space can be easily transformed into a single prover interactive protocol where the prover has only a fixed polynomial amount of space. This result also shows that one can easily transform checkers [?] into adaptive checkers [?] under the assumption that the program being checked has space bounded by a fixed polynomial.

Rational Proofs with Non-Cooperative Provers

Interactive proofs are a fundamental theoretical concept that has become increasingly widely used as a framework to design efficient computation-outsourcing protocols. However, in all existing interactive-proof systems with multiple provers, the provers’ interests either perfectly align (as in multi-prover interactive proofs) or directly conflict (as in refereed games). Neither of these extreme...

Interactive proofs with competing teams of no-signaling provers

This paper studies a generalization of multi-prover interactive proofs in which a verifier interacts with two competing teams of provers: one team attempts to convince the verifier to accept while the other attempts to convince the verifier to reject. Each team consists of two provers who jointly implement a no-signaling strategy. No-signaling strategies are a curious class of joint strategy th...

Interactive Proofs with Approximately Commuting Provers

The class MIP∗ of promise problems that can be decided through an interactive proof system with multiple entangled provers provides a complexity-theoretic framework for the exploration of the nonlocal properties of entanglement. Very little is known in terms of the power of this class. The only proposed approach for establishing upper bounds is based on a hierarchy of semidefinite programs intr...

Interactive proofs with quantum finite automata

Following an early work of Dwork and Stockmeyer on interactive proof systems whose verifiers are two-way probabilistic finite automata, the authors studied in 2004 the computational power of quantum interactive proof systems whose verifiers are particularly limited to quantum finite automata. As a follow-up to this early study, we further investigate the quantum nature of interactions between p...

Translating Higher-Order Problems to First-Order Clauses

Proofs involving large specifications are typically carried out through interactive provers that use higher-order logic. A promising approach to improve the automation of interactive provers is by integrating them with automatic provers, which are usually based on first-order logic. Consequently, it is necessary to translate higher-order logic formulae to first-order form. This translation shou...
