چکیده
The present investigation deals with the nutritional, phytochemical, antioxidant and antibacterial activity of dried fruit of fig (Ficus carica) commonly known as “Anjir” in India. The nutritional profiling of the dried fig fruit indicates that it is a good source of carbohydrates and minerals like strontium, calcium, magnesium, phosphorus and iron. It has average protein and dietary fiber content with very low amount of fat. Phytochemistry of the fruit revealed the presence of total phenolics, flavonoids, alkaloids and saponins and other secondary metabolites that contribute to its high antioxidant activity which was evident from ABTS and FRAP assays. Volatile components of fig fruit were identified through GC-MS and showed the presence of vitamin E, β-amyrin, stigmasterol, campesterol, oleic acid, isoamyl laurate and Υ tocopherols majorly. The extract was also screened for antibacterial activity and showed zone of inhibition against Proteus mirabilis and Bacillus subtilis. This study explains that F. carica with its high antioxidant potential may be utilized as nutraceutical food with high nutrition and therapeutic benefits.

The Effects of Shaking Frequency and Amplitude on the Detachment of Estahban Dried Fig (Ficus carica cv. Sabz)
The aim of this study was to determine the most suitable shaking frequency and amplitude for shake harvesting Esfahan's edible fig (Ficus carica cv. Sabz). A hand held limb shaker with adjustable shaking frequency and amplitude was used for this study. A 3x3 factorial experiment with three levels of oscillating frequency (10, 12 and 14 Hz) and three levels of shaking amplitude (20, 32.5 and 45 ...

The effects of three Ficus carica leaf extracts on the total cholesterol levels (TC) of serum and liver were investigated in experimentally-induced nutritional hyperlipidemic rats. In nine treatment groups (n=5 each group), hyperlipidemic rats were treated daily with hydromethanolic (total) extract (2.5, 5, 10 mg/kg, intraperitoneal [ip]) and its aqueous fractions, namely fraction A (10, 50, 25...

A major portion of the Iranian fig (Ficus carica) industry is located in high-salinity regions, and salinity is an important limiting factor in the production of this fruit. The present study was conducted to investigate the changes of leaf antioxidant-enzyme activity, proline and total protein content in two fig cultivars with two leaf shapes: ‘Anjir Sabz’ with lobate and palmate leaves, and ‘...

Ficus carica L. (fig) belongs to the mulberry tree (Moraceae) which is one of the oldest fruits in the world. It has been used as a digestion promoter and a cure for ulcerative inflammation and eruption in Korea. The present study investigated the antimicrobial activity of methanol (MeOH) extract of figs against oral bacteria. The MeOH extract (MICs, 0.156 to 5 mg/ml; MBCs, 0.313 to 5 mg/ml) sh...
