Plant tropisms
نویسنده
چکیده
as actin assembly regulation. Also, in neuroblastoma cells, cofilin association with the mitochondrial outer membrane is needed for stressinduced release of cytochrome c and consequent apoptosis. In addition, studies of cofilin activity modulation revealed that actin dynamics play important roles at the Golgi in sorting of membrane cargo targeted to neuronal axons or apical membrane of epithelial cells. Vertebrate ADF and cofilin have a nuclear localization sequence which allows them to chaperone actin into the nucleus.

Light and gravity signals synergize in modulating plant development
Tropisms are growth-mediated plant movements that help plants to respond to changes in environmental stimuli. The availability of water and light, as well as the presence of a constant gravity vector, are all environmental stimuli that plants sense and respond to via directed growth movements (tropisms). The plant response to gravity (gravitropism) and the response to unidirectional light (phot...
متن کاملThe roles of microtubules in tropisms
Plant tropisms, or growth towards or away from a stimulus, usually involve the bending of shoots or roots which reorient growth in a newdirection. Plant responses to tropic cues, especially gravity and light, have been active areas of investigation for many years. Despite all of this attention we still do not understand how these responses are regulated. In this review possible roles for microt...
متن کاملPlant tropisms: The ins and outs of auxin
The Cholodny-Went hypothesis holds that gravitropic curvature of a growing plant organ depends on regulated transport of the plant hormone auxin; new studies of the agravitropic mutant aux1 of Arabidopsis provide strong evidence in support of this hypothesis.
متن کاملGrowth, Auxin, and Tropisms in Decapitated Avena Coleoptiles.
With all the work on auxin appearing in the last years it is remarkable that not more investigations are concerned with the actual role of the auxins inside the plant. Barring some early opposition, the original statement "Without auxin no growth" (12) has stood unchallenged for many years. Probably this was so because all test methods were based on the principle of proportionality between auxi...
متن کاملModeling halotropism: a key role for root tip architecture and reflux loop remodeling in redistributing auxin
A key characteristic of plant development is its plasticity in response to various and dynamically changing environmental conditions. Tropisms contribute to this flexibility by allowing plant organs to grow from or towards environmental cues. Halotropism is a recently described tropism in which plant roots bend away from salt. During halotropism, as in most other tropisms, directional growth is...
متن کاملHow can plants tell which way is up?
Many people think of plants as essentially sessile organisms that do not actively respond to their environment. What could be further from the truth! In fact, plants are capable of a variety of movements, including the dramatic nastic responses (such as Venus fly trap closure) and the less sensational tropisms. These latter movements are directed growth responses to some type of external stimul...
