چکیده

UWB system that utilizes the unlicensed 3.1 – 10.6 GHz UWB band, as regulated in the United States by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Regulations. It is a trend that UWB and Bluetooth Technology will be combined together for developing a next-generation low-power, low-cost ad hoc networking solution that will expand Bluetooth technology’s current success. In this paper, we propose a novel piconet system model in which Bluetooth topology and MB-OFDM UWB technology are combined together to form a new ad hoc piconet system. For our proposed system, firstly, we used Bluetooth piconet’s topology as reference to construct our proposed system’s topology, considering both the path-loss effect and the using of TFC code to model our proposed scheme’s Inter-piconet Interference. Secondly, we use the PER graph to evaluate our proposed system’s performance taking account of the Inter-piconet Interference influence. Definitely, our model can be considered to provide a solid foundation for future interference aware UWB-Bluetooth protocols.

Performance Evaluation of MB-OFDM based UWB System

This paper investigates the Multi-band OFDM (MB-OFDM) based physical (PHY) layer proposal for IEEE 802.15.3a working group on short-range high data-rate Ultra-wide-Band (UWB) communications. An overview of the MB-OFDM PHY layer architecture with its various parameters is presented and the optimal choice of critical parameters is discussed. Next, we derive the theoretical un-coded Bit Error Rate...

Performance Evaluation in Time-Synchronized Multi-Piconet Bluetooth Environments

Multiple Bluetooth piconets operating in the globally available 2.4-GHz Industrial, Scientific and Medical (ISM) band are likely to co-exist in a physical environment, supporting applications such as wireless earphones, keyboards etc. An independently operating Bluetooth piconet will inevitably encounter the interference from collocated piconets, which results in individual piconet as well as o...

Piconet interference modeling and performance evaluation of Bluetooth MAC protocol

The emergence of Bluetooth as a default radio interface has allowed handheld electronic devices to be instantly interconnected as ad-hoc networks. These short range ad-hoc wireless networks called piconets, operate in the unlicensed 2.45 GHz ISM (Industrial-Scientific-Medical) band where up to eight devices may be used to configure single or overlapping piconets. As all piconets operating in th...

Multi Attribute Analysis of a Novel Compact UWB Antenna with Via-fed Elements for Dual Band Notch Function (RESEARCH NOTE)

A compact microstrip-fed antenna with dual notched bands is proposed. First, a simple basic configuration is presented for Ultra Wide Band (UWB) applications and then the dual band notched structure is extended from the UWB one. The basic structure of the UWB antenna consists of a simple square radiating patch and a ground plane with a wide square slot on back of the substrate. A semi-circle sh...

A Novel Piconet Coordinator Selection Method for IEEE802.15.3-Based WPAN

Power awareness is an essential component of wireless personal area networks (WPANs), due to the limited energy stored in battery-operated equipment. Moreover, a WPAN has to deal with coexistence problems, since it may simultaneously operate over many types of network. Especially, when UWB, which is a candidate PHY technology for IEEE802.15.3-based WPANs, is applied, decreasing the transmission...
