Abductive Processes for Answer Justification

چکیده
An answer mined from text collections is deemed correct if an explanation or justification is provided. Due to multiple language ambiguities, abduction, or inference to the best explanation, is a possible vehicle for such justifications. To interpret abductively an answer, world knowledge, iexico-semantic knowledge as well as pragmatic knowledge need to be integrated. This paper presents various forms of abductive processes taking place when answers are mined from texts and knowledge bases.

Using Abductive Logic Agents for Legal Justification
In this paper we present a novel approach for legal justification based on an abductive multi-agent system. Legal justification has the main objective of finding the plausible explanations for some given pieces of evidence, for instance in a crime trial. In our approach, the process of justification is done through the collaborative abductive reasoning of agents, which operate within a logic-ba...
متن کاملA Logical Formulation for Negotiation among Dishonest Agents
The paper introduces a logical framework for negotiation among (dis)honest agents. The framework relies on the use of abductive logic programming as a knowledge representation language for agents to deal with incomplete information and preferences. The paper shows how intentionally false or inaccurate information of agents could be encoded in the agents’ knowledge bases. Such disinformation can...

متن کاملA New Matchmaking Approach Based on Abductive Conjunctive Query Answering
To perform matchmaking in Web-based scenarios where data are often incomplete, we propose an extended conjunctive query answering (CQA) problem, called abductive CQA problem, in Description Logic ontologies. Given a consistent ontology and a conjunctive query, the abductive CQA problem computes all abductive answers to the query in the ontology. An abductive answer is an answer to the query in ...
متن کاملAbductive Reasoning, Belief Expansion and Nonmonotonic Cesequence
When dealing with a situation in which new information is to be incorporated into an epistemic state, most belief revision frameworks, including the AGM, incorporate solely this new information. A more natural proposal is that the agent seeks some explanation or justification first and attempts to incorporate the new information together with its justification into the agent’s current epistemic...
