چکیده

A polar fraction obtained from banana fruit pulp by high-vacuum distillation / solvent extraction (pentane-dichloromethane, 2 + 1) and subsequent liquid chromatography on silica gel was derivatized with isopropylisocyanate. Separation of enantiomers of heptan-2-ol and Z-4-hepten-2-ol was performed via their carbamates by means of multidimensional gas chromatography using an achiral (D B -5, column 1) and a chiral (XE-60, column 2) capillary column. The enantiomeric ratios of heptan-2-ol and Z-4-hepten-2-ol were determined to be (/?)( — ) 39% and (S)( + ) 61% as well as (/? )(+ ) 26% and (S )(—) 74% , respectively. The absolute configuration of optically en riched (5 ) (—)-Z-4-hepten-2-ol was determined from NM R spectroscopy.

Enantioselective Multidimensional Gas Chromatography of Some Secondary Alcohols and Their Acetates from Banana

Using enantioselective M D G C the enantiom eric d istribution o f alkan-(alken-)2-yl-acetates from bananas is achieved. A fter simple acetylation their corresponding alcohols 2-pentanol, 2-hexanol, 2-heptanol and (Z)-4-hepten-2-ol respectively are also exactly stereodifferentiated by the same method. All com pounds investigated esters as well as alcohols exhibit a rem arkable excess o f the (5...

Electrophysiological and Behavioral Responses of Male Fall Webworm Moths (Hyphantria cunea) to Herbivory-Induced Mulberry (Morus alba) Leaf Volatiles

Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) were collected from damaged and intact mulberry leaves (Morus alba L., Moraceae) and from Hyphantria cunea larvae by headspace absorption with Super Q columns. We identified their constituents using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry, and evaluated the responses of male H. cunea antennae to the compounds using gas chromatography-flame ionization detection cou...

Characterization and semiquantitative analysis of volatiles in seedless watermelon varieties using solid-phase microextraction.

Seedless triploid watermelons have increased in popularity since the early 1990s, and the demand for seedless fruit is on the rise. Sweetness and sugars are crucial breeding focuses for fruit quality. Volatiles also play an important role; yet, we found no literature for seedless varieties and no reports using solid-phase microextraction (SPME) in watermelon. The objective of this experiment wa...

Lycopene accumulation affects the biosynthesis of some carotenoid-related volatiles independent of ethylene in tomato.

For elucidating the regulatory mechanism of ethylene on carotenoid-related volatiles (open chain) compounds and the relationship between lycopene and carotenoid-related volatiles, transgenic tomato fruits in which ACC synthase was suppressed were used. The transgenic tomato fruit showed a significant reduction of lycopene and aroma volatiles with low ethylene production. 6-Methyl-5-hepten-2-one...

Electrophysiological Responses of the Rice Leaffolder, Cnaphalocrocis medinalis, to Rice plant Volatiles

The rice leaffolder, Cnaphalocrocis medinalis Guenée (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae), is one of the most destructive pests of rice. Electrophysiological responses of this species to 38 synthetic volatiles known to be released from rice plants (Poaceae: Oryza spp.) were studied using the electroantennogram (EAG) method. Compounds that elicited the strongest EAG responses for each physiological conditio...
