Mass Treatment with Injectable Atebrin

In the course of experiments conducted at the Colombo General Hospital during the malaria epidemic in Ceylon with atebrin-dimethylsulphonate (musonate) a method was elaborated by which it became possible to effectively treat severe cases of malaria with two injections given at an interval of 24 hours without any other additional treatment (Blaze and Simeons, 1935). The results obtained in these experiments showed that it is possible to exercise a very rapid and lasting effect on a malaria infection
