چکیده

The placenta is a distinctive, endocrine organ, which facilitates the supply of oxygen and nutrients to the fetus through placental microcirculation. Placenta is a window providing insight vision for understanding maternal dysfunction and its impacts on fetal well-being. So it is an effective index by examination of which we can predict the status of fetus in utero as well as in neonatal life. It may act as an indicator to the overall development of the fetus in cases of pregnancy induced hypertension and in abruption of placentae. These complications of pregnancy are reflected in structure and function of the placenta. 1,2
