A new elastic-plastic material model with non-linear elastic behaviour for thermoplastic elastomers

چکیده
Thermoplastic Elastomers (TPE) are materials, which combine the advantages of elastomers and thermoplastics. TPE is not only used as replacement for thermoplastics. More and more parts, formerly made of rubber like CVJ boots and hydraulic seals, are nowadays made of TPE. Since the mechanical behavior of TPEs is different to elastomers, the design of TPE parts cannot be copied directly from their elastomeric counterparts. Therefore, new designs must be developed. In this process, FEA is a powerful tool to support the product development. To provide this support, a precise numerical description of the material behavior is required. Experimental characterization of the material has shown, that the behavior is strongly non-linear, and there is a big influence of inelastic effects. Up to now, there is no material model available in ABAQUS to describe these effects. Therefore, at Freudenberg a new material model has been developed, which can describe the nonlinearity as well as the inelasticity. With this model it is now possible to predict the behavior of TPE-parts, especially the effects of inelastic deformation

Damping Behavior of the Phenolic Based Composite Friction Materials Containing Thermoplastic Elastomers (TPEs)
Attempts have been made for the first time to produce a friction material with thermal sensitive modulus by the inclusion of combined plastic/rubber properties of thermoplastic elastomers (TPE) as viscoelastic polymeric materials into the formulation for the purpose of increasing the damping behavior. In order to evaluate the viscoelastic parameters such as loss factor (tan δ) and elastic m...

متن کاملElastic Nonwoven Fabrics from Polyolefin Elastomers
VistamaxxTM Specialty Elastomers are polyolefin elastomers with isotactic propylene crystallinity. These polymers contain a predominant (>80%) amount of propylene with isotactic propylene crystallinity, with the balance of the composition being ethylene and other αolefins. This new family of thermoplastic elastomers are highly elastic and exhibit excellent recovery from deformation. These polym...

Delamination fracture of a two-dimensional functionally graded multilayered four-point bending beam that exhibits non-linear behaviour of the material is analyzed. The fracture is studied analytically in terms of the strain energy release rate. The beam under consideration has an arbitrary number of layers. Each layer has individual thickness and material properties. A delamination crack is loc...

This work presents thermoplastic analysis of FG rotating diskswith variable thickness and constant angular velocity. The solutions are obtained by variable material property (VMP) theory. In this theory, the domain is divided into some finite sub-domains in the radial direction, in which the properties are assumed to be constant and the form of the elastic response is used to solve elastic-plas...
