Semirelativistic potential model for glueball states

چکیده
The masses of two-gluon glueballs are studied with a semirelativistic potential model whose interaction is a scalar linear confinement supplemented by a one-gluon exchange mechanism. The gluon is massless but the leading corrections of the dominant part of the Hamiltonian are expressed in terms of a state-dependent constituent gluon mass. The Hamiltonian depends only on three parameters: the strong coupling constant, the string tension, and a gluon size, which removes all singularities in the leading corrections of the potential. Accurate numerical calculations are performed with a Lagrange mesh method. The masses predicted are in rather good agreement with lattice results and with some experimental glueball candidates.

Glueball phenomenology and the relativistic flux tube model
The relativistic flux tube model is an effective description of confined quarks and gluons derived from QCD. It is not a potential approach since the confining interaction is carried by the flux tube, a Nambu-Goto string. We first show that the relativistic flux tube model can be applied to glueballs seen as bound states of transverse constituent gluons. After a comparison of that approach to u...
متن کاملElectric Polarizability of Mesons in Semirelativistic Quark Models
The electric polarizability of mesons, in particular, that of the charged pion, is studied in the framework of a semirelativistic description of hadrons as bound states of valence quarks in terms of a Hamiltonian composed of the relativistic kinetic energy as well as a phenomenological potential describing the strong interactions between the quarks. The quark-core contribution to the electric p...
متن کاملThe Relativistic and Non Relativistic Quark-antiquark Bound State Problem in a Wilson Loop Context
The paper is on the line of the path integral technique developped in preceding articles. Taking advantage of a semirelativistic and a full relativistic representation of the quark propagator in an external field we present an unified derivation of the semirelativistic potential and of a Bethe–Salpeter like equation for the quark– antiquark system. We consider three different models for the eva...
متن کاملMeson Spectroscopy: Glueballs, Hybrids and QQ̄ Mesons
Lattice gauge calculations predict the existence of glueballs. In particular a scalar glueball is firmly expected at a mass of about 1730 MeV. This prediction has led to an intense study of scalar isoscalar interactions and to the discovery of new meson resonances. The number of scalar states observed seems to exceed the number of states which can be accommodated in the quark model even when tw...
