Multivariate calibration What is in chemometrics for the analytical chemist?
نویسنده
چکیده
Chemometrics has been used for some 30 years but there is still need for disseminating the potential benefits to a wider audience. In this paper, we claim that proper analytical chemistry (1) must in fact incorporate a chemometric approach and (2) that there are several significant advantages of doing so. In order to explain this, an indirect route will be taken, where the most important benefits of chemometric methods are discussed using small illustrative examples. Emphasis will be on multivariate data analysis (for example calibration), whereas other parts of chemometrics such as experimental design will not be treated here. Four distinct aspects are treated in detail: noise reduction; handling of interferents; the exploratory aspect and the possible outlier control. Additionally, some new developments in chemometrics are described. © 2003 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Uncertainty Estimation and Figures of Merit for Multivariate Calibration
This paper gives an introduction to multivariate calibration from a chemometrics perspective and reviews the various proposals to generalize the well-established univariate methodology to the multivariate domain. Univariate calibration leads to relatively simple models with a sound statistical underpinning. The associated uncertainty estimation and figures of merit are thoroughly covered in sev...
متن کاملChemometric Analysis of First Order Chemical Data
This thesis considers issues related to the multivariate analysis and calibration of chemical data collected in a vector format (one–way data). The work is designed to facilitate the task of the analytical chemist, focusing on methods of maximizing the amount of information that can be obtained by multivariate modeling from full sets of data generated by instruments or experiments. It is shown ...
متن کاملSimultaneous Spectrophotometric Determination of Iron, Cobalt and Copper by Partial Least-Squares Calibration Method in Micellar Medium
Iron, cobalt and copper are metals, which appear together in many real samples, both natural and artificial. Recently a classical univariate micellar colorimetric method has been developed for determination of these metal ions. The organized molecular assemblies such as micelles are used in spectroscopic measurements due to their possible effects on the systems of interest. The ability of mi...

متن کاملSimultaneous Spectrophotometric Determination of Mycophenolate Mofetil and Its Active Metabolite in Human Plasma Using Chemometrics Methods
A spectrophotometric method for selective complexation reaction and simultaneous determination of mycophenolate mofetil (MPM), and mycophenolic acid (MPA) using three multivariate chemometric methods, i.e. partial least squares regression, principal component regression and principal component artificial neural networks, is proposed. The method is based on the complexation reaction of ...
