چکیده

This paper presents a novel digital circuit, based on the analog Dual Mixer Time Difference circuit, developed by David W. Allan, designed to characterise oscillators frequency stability. The proposed digital circuit, named Digital Dual Mixer Time Difference (DDMTD), is capable of measuring time differences between two digital clock signals with very fine resolution (subpicosecond) using a relative low frequency counter.

On-Chip Timing Measurement Architecture with Femtosecond Resolution

A new timing measurement architecture based on the time-to-digital conversion technique is presented. The architecture occupies a small silicon area (200μm by 185μm) in a 0.12μm CMOS process and can achieve tens of femtoseconds timing resolution which is the highest reported to-date. Introduction: The International Technology Roadmap for Semiconductors (ITRS’05) is predicting that by 2010 clock...

Multi-level Digital/mixed-signal Simulation with Automatic Circuit Partition and Dynamic Delay Calculation

A unified and consistent representation of logic gates at logic and circuit levels is described based on the subcircuit expansion approach. A dynamic-delay model is proposed for gate-level timing simulation, which includes the effects of nonlinear capacitive loading, input transition time, and multiple-input triggering on the delay. It is shown that the approach provides near circuit-level accu...

Three-Dimensional Interconnect Modeling for Nano-Scale VLSI Technologies

Designing high performance very large scale integration (VLSI) circuits has become more challenging than ever due to deep sub-micron effects and accelerating time-to-market cycles. With the increasing interconnect delay dominance and strong coupling effects, a small change in the design can cause new timing violations and result in design iterations. At the same time, the industry trend of inte...

Delay Time for General Distributed Networks with Application to Timing Analysis of Digital Mos Integrated Circuits

In this work we consider a general network with distributed parameter elements resistively coupled and additionally containing nonlinear capacitors. This network is a better model for the timing analysis of MOS integrated circuits than those previously considered. We define a global parameter "A-delay time" which expresses the speed of signal propagation in this circuit. A computationally simpl...

Modeling and Visualizing Seismic Wave Propagation in Elastic Medium Using Multi-Dimension Wave Digital Filtering Approach

A novel PDE solver using the multidimensional wave digital filtering (MDWDF) technique to achieve the solution of a 2D seismic wave system is presented. In essence, the continuous physical system served by a linear Kirchhoff circuit is transformed to an equivalent discrete dynamic system implemented by a MD wave digital filtering (MDWDF) circuit. This amounts to numerically approximating the di...
