چکیده

We propose a simulation model to study the properties of directed percolation in two-dimensional (2D) anisotropic random media. The degree of anisotropy in the model is given by the ratio μ between the axes of a semiellipse enclosing the bonds that promote percolation in one direction. At percolation, this simple model shows that the average number of bonds per site in 2D is an invariant equal to 2.8 independently of μ. This result suggests that Sinai’s theorem proposed originally for isotropic percolation is also valid for anisotropic directed percolation problems. The new invariant also yields a constant fractal dimension Df ∼ 1.71 for all μ, which is the same value found in isotropic directed percolation (i.e., μ = 1). 05.40.+j, 64.60.Ak, 64.60.Cn, 64.60.Ht Typeset using REVTEX ∗E-mail: [email protected]

Universal crossing probabilities and incipient spanning clusters in directed percolation

Shape-dependent universal crossing probabilities are studied, via Monte Carlo simulations, for bond and site directed percolation on the square lattice in the diagonal direction, at the percolation threshold. In a dynamical interpretation, the crossing probability is the probability that, on a system with size L, an epidemic spreading without immunization remains active at time t. Since the sys...

Crossover from Isotropic to Directed Percolation

Percolation clusters are probably the simplest example for scale–invariant structures which either are governed by isotropic scaling–laws (“self–similarity”) or — as in the case of directed percolation — may display anisotropic scaling behavior (“self–affinity”). Taking advantage of the fact that both isotropic and directed bond percolation (with one preferred direction) may be mapped onto corr...

Schrödinger Invariance and Strongly Anisotropic Critical Systems

The extension of strongly anisotropic or dynamical scaling to local scale invariance is investigated. For the special case of an anisotropy or dynamical exponent θ = z = 2, the group of local scale transformation considered is the Schrödinger group, which can be obtained as the non-relativistic limit of the conformal group. The requirement of Schrödinger invariance determines the two-point func...

Crossover from isotropic to directed percolation.

We generalize the directed percolation (DP) model by relaxing the strict directionality of DP such that propagation can occur in either direction but with anisotropic probabilities. We denote the probabilities as p(↓) = pp(d) and p(↑) = p(1-p(d)), with p representing the average occupation probability and p(d) controlling the anisotropy. The Leath-Alexandrowicz method is used to grow a cluster ...

Directed Percolation and the Golden Ratio

Applying the theory of Yang-Lee zeros to nonequilibrium critical phenomena, we investigate the properties of a directed bond percolation process for a complex percolation parameter p. It is shown that for the Golden Ratio p = (1± √ 5)/2 and for p = 2 the survival probability of a cluster can be computed exactly. PACS numbers: 02.50.-r,64.60.Ak,05.50.+q Directed percolation (DP) is an anisotropi...
