A Comparative Study of Spanish Zero Pronoun Distribution
نویسنده
چکیده
The aim of this paper is to report the distribution of Spanish zero pronouns in three different genres: legal, encyclopaedic and instructional. The Z-corpora were created for this purpose and a sample of 1043 zero pronouns was annotated. The most salient patterns of distribution are compared for each genre, and some relevant issues concerning the use of zero pronouns are described in relation to a zero pronoun identification algorithm that is to be implemented. Keywords-zero-pronoun; anaphora; ellipsis; corpus annotation; corpus analysis

Romanian Zero Pronoun Distribution: A Comparative Study
Anaphora resolution is still a challenging research field in natural language processing, lacking an algorithm that correctly resolves anaphoric pronouns. Anaphoric zero pronouns pose an even greater challenge, since this category is not lexically realised. Thus, their resolution is conditioned by their prior identification stage. This paper reports on the distribution of zero pronouns in Roman...

متن کاملHybrid Approach to Zero Subject Resolution for multilingual MT - Spanish-to-KoreanCases -

Spanish is one of the well-known 'pro-drop' languages so that especially a subject pronoun is often omitted, if it can be inferred from the linguistic as well as nonlinguistic context. In Spanish to Korean MT the omitted subject doesn't need to be restored...

متن کامل"He's pregnant": simulating the confusing case of gender pronoun errors in L2
Even advanced Spanish speakers of second language English tend to confuse the pronouns ‘he’ and ‘she’, often without even noticing their mistake (Lahoz, 1991). A study by AntónMéndez (2010) has indicated that a possible reason for this error is the fact that Spanish is a pro-drop language. In order to test this hypothesis, we used an extension of Dual-path (Chang, 2002), a computational cogniti...
