Term Infant with Gallbladder Stone: a Case Report

چکیده
Fetal gallbladder stone is a rare phenomenon, which is observed by chance during third trimester ultrasonography and does not cause significant clinical symptoms. Even though the etiology of stones found in the fetal period are yet unknown; apnea of prematurity, sepsis, parenteral nutrition, motile diseases, blood group incompatibilities, metabolic diseases and dehydration of newborns are among the causes of formation of gallstones in pediatric age groups. We present a case where the mother had used high dose flaxseed oil capsules, which are widely used as sources of omega-3 and omega-6 during pregnancy. Antenatal ultrasonography determined an echogenic focus beneath the liver position of the fetus. This was found to be gallbladder mud and stone with abdominal ultrasonography on the 2nd day of life. This term (38 weeks and 5 days, 3300 g), appropriate for gestational age, male infant was born to a 33-year-old mother who used linseed (flaxseed) oil capsules 2-3 times (2000-3000 mg) a day during pregnancy for a period of 7 months. During antenatal period, when the fetus had gestanional age of 36 weeks; a hyperechogenic focus was showed beneath the liver position of the fetus. After birth, patient was evaluated and abdominal ultrasonography revealed “gallbladder mud and stone”(Fig .1). Biochemical parameters including liver, function test, total cholesterol and triglycerides were in normal range but total bilirubin and direct bilirubin were 6 mg/dl and 0.6 Fig. 1: Hyperechogenic foci beneath the liver

Gallstone ileus and a three centimeters stone in terminal ileum: a case report
Abstract Gallstone ileus is a rare complication of cholelithiasis found in less than 0.5% of patients. It is an uncommon cause of small bowel obstruction, accounting for 1% to 3% of all mechanical bowel obstructions and over 25% of nonstrangulated bowel obstructions in patients older than 65 years with a female predominance. We report a 60-year-old woman who was referred to our hospit...

Abstract Acute inflammation of the gallbladder can occur without gallstones. Acalculous cholecystitis typically develops in critically ill patients in the intensive care unit. Patients on parenteral nutrition, with extensive burns, sepsis, major operations, multiple organ trauma or prolonged illness with multiple organ system failure are at risk for developing acalculous cholecystitis. The ass...
متن کاملActinomycosis of the Gallbladder Mimicking Carcinoma: a Case Report with US and CT Findings
We describe a case of actinomycosis of the gallbladder mimicking carcinoma. Sonography showed a hypoechoic mass replacing gallbladder lumen and engulfing a stone; contrast-enhanced computed tomography showed a heterogeneously enhanced thickened gallbladder wall with subtle, disrupted luminal surface enhancement, which formed a mass. As a result of the clinical and radiologic presentation, our i...
متن کاملCase Report: Variation of the Gallbladder Vasculature Including Double Cystic Arteries
Acquaintance with the different anatomical variations of the arterial supply of the gallbladder is of great importance in hepatobiliary surgical procedures. A rare variation of the hepatobiliary arterial system was found during anatomical dissection of a female Iranian cadaver. Two cystic arteries were present, the first arising directly from the right hepatic artery and the second from the gas...
