Research on Identifying Method of Freezing-Thawing Soil Hydraulic Properties

چکیده
The identification of freezing-thawing soil hydraulic properties is the basis and key problem of studying soil water movement. Current identifying methods of the properties have many limitations, such as big error, high uncertainty and low operability. Thus, the identifying method of freezingthawing soil hydraulic properties was researched in the research. The estimating parameters of soil freezing characteristic curve were calculated by classical statistical method. Targeting at the maximum absolute difference between measured and simulated value of unsaturated soil hydraulic properties, the particle swarm optimization algorithm was used to estimate the optimal values of soil water characteristic curve, unsaturated hydraulic conductivity and specific water capacity. The numerical simulation of freezing-thawing soil water movement proved that the measured and simulated value of soil unfrozen water content had high degree of agreement. The identifying method proposed in the research is effective and feasible.

Modeling of Coupled Water and Heat Transfer in Freezing and Thawing Soils, Inner Mongolia
Accurate simulation of soil water and heat transfer is critical to understand surface hydrology under cold conditions. Using an extended freezing code in HYDRUS-1D (freezing module), this study was conducted: (1) to evaluate the freezing module using field data collected in a grazed steppe of Inner Mongolia; and (2) to further simulate grazing effects on frozen soil hydrological processes. The ...
متن کاملFreezing–thawing cycles effect on the water soluble organic carbon, nitrogen and microbial biomass of alpine grassland soil in Northern Tibet
Soil freezing-thawing cycle may substantially influence soil physical properties, microbial activity, and the rates of carbon and nitrogen cycling in soils. In this study, the soil water soluble organic C, N (WSOC, WSON) as well as microbial biomass C, N (MBC, MBN) of two alpine grassland types, alpine meadow and alpine steppe, were investigated after freezing-thawing cycles in a grassland land...
متن کاملThe Effect of Randomly Distributed Polypropylene Fibers Borogypsum Fly Ash and Cement on Freezing-Thawing Durability of a Fine-Grained Soil
Abstract—A number of studies have been conducted recently to investigate the influence of randomly oriented fibers on some engineering properties of cohesive and cohesionless soils. However, few studies have been carried out on freezing-thawing behavior of fine-grained soils modified with discrete fiber inclusions and additive materials. This experimental study was performed to investigate the ...
متن کاملIdentification of Soil Freezing and Thawing States Using SAR Polarimetry at C-Band
The monitoring of soil freezing and thawing states over large areas is very challenging on ground. In order to investigate the potential and the limitations of space-borne SAR polarimetry at C-band for soil state survey, analyses were conducted on an entire winter time series of fully polarimetric RADARSAT-2 data from 2011/2012 to identify freezing as well as thawing states within the soil. The...
متن کاملFall Contour Ripping Increases Water Infiltration into Frozen Soil
Crop residue management to trap snow and soil management to improve water infiltration into frozen soil might reduce spring runoff and increase soil water storage. We hypothesized that soil macropores created by tillage would improve water infiltration when the soil was frozen. This hypothesis was tested by ripping a Dooley sandy loam (fine-loamy, mixed Typic Argiboroll) in the fall of the year...
