چکیده

Among the violently poisonous species of Amanita, none has received more attention than A. phalloides (Fr.) Secr. By 1959, five related cyclopeptidic toxins had been extracted from this mushroom and named phalloidin, phalloin, and a-, j3-, and y-amanitin. T. Wieland and 0. Wieland (Pharmacol. Rev. 11:87, 1959) reviewed the chemistry and toxicology of these compounds. A sixth toxin, phallacidin, has since been isolated by T. Wieland and H. W. Schnabel (Ann. Chem. 657:218, 1962). Although common in Central Europe, A. phalloides is extremely rare in the United States. S. S. Block et al. (J. Agr. Food Chem. 3:584, 1955) tested extracts from 13 Amanita species occurring in the United States. Only those from A.

Analysis of the toxins of amanitin-containing mushrooms.

We have recently developed a method for the analysis of toxins in single specimens of the mush room Amanita phalloides (Fr.) Seer.1. Separation of the different toxins was achieved by column chro matography, on Sephadex LH20 in water, of a methanolic extract of fresh or dried mushrooms, followed by further purification on thinlayers of silica gel, spectrophotometric evaluation, and, final ly...

Profiling of Amatoxins and Phallotoxins in the Genus Lepiota by Liquid Chromatography Combined with UV Absorbance and Mass Spectrometry

Species in the mushroom genus Lepiota can cause fatal mushroom poisonings due to their content of amatoxins such as α-amanitin. Previous studies of the toxin composition of poisonous Lepiota species relied on analytical methods of low sensitivity or resolution. Using liquid chromatography coupled to UV absorbance and mass spectrometry, we analyzed the spectrum of peptide toxins present in six I...

Reduced genomic potential for secreted plant cell-wall-degrading enzymes in the ectomycorrhizal fungus Amanita bisporigera, based on the secretome of Trichoderma reesei.

Based on the analysis of its genome sequence, the ectomycorrhizal (ECM) basidiomycetous fungus Laccaria bicolor was shown to be lacking many of the major classes of secreted enzymes that depolymerize plant cell wall polysaccharides. To test whether this is also a feature of other ECM fungi, we searched a survey genome database of Amanita bisporigera with the proteins found in the secretome of T...

New records of the genus Lepiota for Iran, including two deadly poisonous species

In the framework of the collection and identification of agaric fungi of Iran, three species of the genus Lepiota, viz. Lepiota brunneoincarnata, L. echinella and L. subincarnata are reported as new records for mycobiota of Iran. Two species, L. brunneoincarnata and L. subincarnata are deadly poisonous taxa. Up to now, two species of Amanita, A. phalloides and A. verna, and one from Galerina, G...
