Filter design via inner-outer factorization: Comments on "Optimal deconvolution filter design based on orthogonal principle"

چکیده
This paper is written with two purposes in mind. First, it points out some mistakes made in the paper \Optimal deconvolution lter design based on orthogonal principle", recently published in this journal. Secondly, in order to sort out the reason for those mistakes, the relations between inner{ outer factorization, spectral factorization, whitening lters and Diophantine equations in MMSE lter design are stressed. It is emphasized that computation of an inner matrix corresponds to performing a spectral factorization and the inverse of the outer matrix is a whitening lter. Furthermore, nd-ing the causal part of an expression is the same as solving a Diophantine equation.

Deconvolution Filter Design via l/sub 1/ Optimization Technique - Signal Processing, IEEE Transactions on
A new `1 optimal deconvolution filter design approach for systems with uncertain (or unknown)-but-bounded inputs and external noises is proposed. The purpose of this deconvolution filter is to minimize the peak gain from the input signal and noise to the error by the viewpoint of the time domain. The solution consists of two steps. In the first step, the `1 norm minimization problem is transfer...
متن کاملA wavelet time-scale deconvolution filter design for nonstationary signal transmission systems through a multipath fading channel
This study attempts to develop a time-scale deconvolution filter for optimal signal reconstruction of nonstationary processes with a stationary increment transmitted through a multipath fading and colored noisy channel with stochastic tap coefficients. A deconvolution filter based on wavelet analysis/synthesis filter bank is proposed to solve this problem via a three-stage filter bank. A fracta...
متن کاملOptimal time-frequency deconvolution filter design for nonstationary signal transmission through a fading channel: AF filter bank approach
The purpose of this paper is to develop a new approach—time–frequency deconvolution filter—to optimally reconstruct the nonstationary (or time-varying) signals that are transmitted through a multipath fading and noisy channel. A deconvolution filter based on ambiguity function (AF) filter bank is proposed to solve this problem via a three-stage filter bank. First, the signal is transformed via ...
متن کاملNew Design of Orthogonal Filter Banks Using the Cayley Transform
It is a challenging task to design orthogonal filter banks, especially multidimensional (MD) ones. In the onedimensional (1D) two-channel finite impulse response (FIR) filter bank case, several design methods exist. Among them, designs based on spectral factorizations (by Smith and Barnwell) and designs based on lattice factorizations (by Vaidyanathan and Hoang) are the most effective and widel...
متن کاملDesign of an Improved Optical Filter Based on Dual-Curved PCRR for WDM Systems
In this paper, an optical filter based on a two dimensional photonic crystalring resonator (PCRR) with triangular lattice is designed and presented. For thispurpose, the effects of positioning, arrangement and the number of the inner rods of thedual-curved PCRR on the performance characteristics of our optical filter such as thetransmission coefficient and the quality factor have been fully inv...
