چکیده
We thank Reviewer #1 for his constructive comments. * We agree that BV/TV often correlates with measurements of BMD. However, bone volume and bone mineral density represent different aspects of the bone, and do not necessarily have to correlate. Bone mineral density evaluates the mineral content of the bone, while bone volume is the space occupied by the bone, regardless of the mineral content. A small volume of bone can have a large mineral density. The discordance of these two parameters in our study might be due to effects of the treatment on mineral deposition, but also to the methodology used. BV was measured in the whole longitudinal section of the tibiae, while BMD was measured in the region adjacent to the growth plate. We have added a comment on this issue to the manuscript.

General This manuscript by Brubaker and colleagues reports the investigation of the effects of docetaxel (20 mg/kg every 2 weeks) alone or in combination with the bisphosphonate zoledronic acid (0.1 mg/kg, given s.c. twice weekly) on the in vivo growth of prostate cancer LuCaP 23.1 tumors in bone. These authors have previously shown that zoledronic acid (0.25 mg/kg, given s.c. twice weekly) red...

متن کاملQuercetin Synergistically Enhances the Anticancer Efficacy of Docetaxel through Induction of Apoptosis and Modulation of PI3K/AKT, MAPK/ERK, and JAK/STAT3 Signaling Pathways in MDA-MB-231 Breast Cancer Cell Line
Docetaxel is widely used in the treatment of metastatic breast cancer. However, its effectiveness is limited due to chemoresistance and its undesirable side effects. The combination of chemotherapeutic agents and natural compounds is an effective strategy to overcome drug resistance and the ensuing inevitable toxicities. Quercetin is a natural flavonoid with strong antioxidant and anticancer ac...
متن کاملEvaluation of Strontium-89 in palliative treatment of widespread and painful bone metastases due to breast and prostate cancer [Persian]
Treatment of bone metastases comprises over 10% of the workload of a radiation-oncology center. Bone metastases produce severe pain and immobility, necessitate narcotic use, and reduce the quality of life. A good palliative treatment must be complete, free from side effects and fast; Thus we decided to evaluate Strontium-89 (89Sr) effectivity for palliation of breast and prostate cancer b...
