Structural analysis of a wind turbine and its drive train using the flexible multibody simulation technique

چکیده
This article demonstrates the application of a generic methodology, based on the flexible multibody simulation technique, for the dynamic analysis of a wind turbine and its drive train, including a gearbox. The analysis of the complete wind turbine is limited up to 10 Hz, whereas the study of the drive train includes frequencies up to 1500 Hz. Both studies include a normal modes analysis. The analysis of the drive train includes additionally a response calculation for an excitation from the meshing gears, a Campbell analysis for the identification of possible resonance behaviour and a simulation of a transient load case, which occurs as a sudden torque variation caused by a disturbance in the electrical grid.

Flexible multibody model of a three-stage planetary gear- box in a wind turbine
Three types of multibody models are presented for the investigation of the internal dynamics of a drive train in a wind turbine. The first approach is limited to the analysis of torsional vibrations only. Then, a rigid multibody model is presented with special focus on the representation of the bearings and the gears in the drive train. The generic model implementation can be used for parallel ...
متن کاملOn the development of a sliding mode observer-based fault diagnosis scheme for a wind turbine benchmark model
This paper addresses the design of an observer-based fault diagnosis scheme, which is applied to some of the sensors and actuators of a wind turbine benchmark model. The methodology is based on a modified sliding mode observer (SMO) that allows accurate reconstruction of multiple sensor or actuator faults occurring simultaneously. The faults are reconstructed using the equivalent output err...

متن کاملSTRUCTURAL ANALYSIS AND STRUCTURAL OPTIMIZATION OF SELF-SUPPORTING TRUSS TOWERS TO SUPPORT A LARGE WIND TURBINE
This article aims to study the self-supporting truss towers used to support large wind turbines. The goal is to evaluate and validate numerically by finite element method the structural analysis when the lattice structures of the towers of wind turbines are subjected to static loads and these from common usage. With this, it is expected to minimize the cost of transportation and installation of...
متن کاملExperimental and 3D Finite Element Analysis of a Slotless Air-Cored Axial Flux PMSG for Wind Turbine Application
In this research paper, the performance of an air-cored axial flux permanent magnet synchronous generator is evaluated for low speed, direct drive applications using 3D finite element modeling and experimental tests. The structure of the considered machine consists of double rotor and coreless stator, which results in the absence of core losses, reduction of stator weight and elimination of cog...
